The Surprises of Capability: What I Can and Cannot Do

Life, they say, is a journey, and along the way, we usually encounter different situations that reveal some part of ourselves to us, and that's a sign of how dynamic life can be because even to we ourselves, some part of us gets revealed to us on a gradual process, and personally, throughout the year, I've come to see myself do something I don't know I can ever do and also be unable to do some I thought I'd be able to, and in this article, I'll be telling you all about it.

It's seriously somewhat strange when I look back on my life and reminisce about someone I loved and envisioned back then. I was almost certain that when I grew up, I'd surely be doing this or even choosing it as a career path, but presently I'm not even in that line and haven't done it in over two decades, and one of them is my dream of being a novel writer.

You see, right from a very tender age, I've been fascinated by stories and novels, and one of the reasons was because my dad studied English and literature and was a professor in that field, so the benefit of that was that our house serves as a home to numerous novels and interesting books, and growing up, I usually buried my head in them, and when I do, I usually come up with my own storyline and think of a storyline in my head, even going on to write them down in a small note.

With that, I was almost certain that I'd certainly grow up to write novels and different booklets, but the reverse is the case because, through time until this very moment, I haven't even begun the writing of any story or novel, not to mention completing one. It's still strange, and even my dad once reminded me of it, and it was like he thought I'd grow up to follow in his footsteps in literature or at least be a writer. Well, it's what it is.

The same thing plays out in one of my childhood dream crafts and skills. I've written here that, growing up, I got fascinated by hairmaking and usually went to the store next to our house to learn. With the passion I had for it then and how well I was catching up with each lesson, it was my belief that I might grow up to become a hair stylist, but the reverse is the case, because that never materialized despite how well I thought I would have done if I were to do it.

On the other hand, when we talk about something I never thought I'd be able to do but presently am, one of them is my consistency and commitment to goals and objectives. You see, while growing up, I wasn't the best academically, and these made me want to give up on studying and would have even left school for the opportunity to learn a skill.

But despite how that plays out in my academics and other aspects of my life, I've grown up to adopt a new found trait and lifestyle that's now reshaped my life and put me in the right direction for personal growth and development. Looking back, I'm still amazed by the such changes and how I came to adopt this in my life, and this has made me excel much better in my career and finance, and my activities here on Hive Blockchain are a good example of that reality.

With the realization of all this, after thorough checks and reflections on this, I've come to understand that our perspective doesn't really usually play out the way we envisioned, especially in the areas of what we'll grow up to do or not do. Sometimes these could be as a result of fear, doubt, or external factors, like in my case, but all in all, we just need to encourage ourselves and push through, and with that, our dreams can become a reality.

Writing about this, I'm charged to take steps in the direction of these dreams, and hopefully I'll be able to free up time and regain the long-lost desire to
attain them.
