Paris and the Relationship between the Past and the Present
Hi, lovers of Black and White photography. Here is my entry for the daily #monomad challenge, hosted by @monochromes, and supported by @qurator.
Paris, what do we know about this magical place?
They call it the city of love and romance. They also call it а cradle of culture and history since the Gallo-Roman times. It is known for its Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame cathedral, and the Eiffel tower. They love it because of its high-quality gastronomy, the terraces of its cafés, the wine and cheese, the monuments, and the symbiotic relationship between old and new architecture.
Paris, like all other big cities, is no stranger to hustle and bustle, crowds, busy and thoughtful people on the streets, the car traffic. That traffic which passes somehow negligently by all those architectural beauties. Beauties that millions of people around the world crave to see, to smell the fragrance of the Seine, or to feel the grandeur of the countless monuments of culture. Мost of them will probably never fulfill this dream. This busy traffic blends into the landscape, and somehow neglects it, аs well as the people involved in it.
If you try to take a picture, the hardest part will be not to find a suitable object or a position for the perfect shot. The biggest challenge for any photographer will be to capture the desired composition by managing to exclude people and car traffic from the frame. Yes, those of you who have been to Paris will probably agree. You know well that when you are on a hunt for history, the main goal is to capture the moment so that viewers can travel back in time and imagine it as it looked then.
But is there a reason to do this? We live in an age of technology and fast-moving, don't we?
I had to write these introductory words for you to get my idea for this post. I think that history can be intertwined with modernity and this symbiosis can be beautiful too. With the photos I took in Paris, I want to show the blending of history with the hectic modern traffic.
And this relationship can be extremely beautiful in Black and White. Do you agree?
Thank you for your time and support!
You are welcome to dive into my future posts.
I will keep on drawing stories with pictures from my trips.
Have a beautiful day, be healthy, and may the force be with you!
Yours,
George
