A sad story to learn from: The Terezin Concentration Camp

Good day to all members of the Black And White Community.

I am excited to participate for the first time in the #monomad challenge, hosted by @monochromes, and supported by @qurator.

Today I will tell you a sad story about cruelty, pain, death, and а lesson we can (must) learn from.
People say - "You should visit at least one concentration camp in your life." I would paraphrase this thought like this – “Visiting at least one concentration camp is more than enough to feel the suffering of all these lost innocent souls, their pain and agonizing death, the tragedy of their families, to realize the cruelty of war, and to become a better person”.
As a cruise ship concierge and excursion guide for the past eight years, I have had the exceptional opportunity to accompany our guests on their trips onshore. Some of them were fun, others full of amazing views, but this one shook me like no other.

The place I will present to you in the pictures below lies south of Litomerice, Czech Republic, and is known as Terezin. It is one of the infamous prisons for political detainees and Jewish ghetto in the Third Reich, which served as a transit camp for further transportation to Auschwitz. Thousands of men, women, and children were sent here into exile, most of them lost their lives.

I could not imagine drawing this story in bright colors, therefore I decided to choose black and white, as a symbol of humility, compassion, and high hope that history will not repeat. Never!
