long exposure of the ocean
While we were exploring Norfolk island, we found the crystal rock pools. But when we finally found this spot it was high tide and the waves were smashing over the rock pool so it was way too dangerous to climb down the cliff and get close to the rock pool.
I did how ever have a ND filter that I could attach to my tamron lens on my Sony a7iii.
Now I have never tried to shoot long exposure at the beach before but after some playing around I found the settings 1/10 f22 iso100 worked pretty good in the middle of the day.
The water flowing over the rocks made for a nice quick little water fall. And the long exposure made the water all nice and fluffy while the rocks and solid objects remained in focus.
I didn't have a tripod so I just rested my camera on a post at the top of the cliff.
The end results turned out pretty cool.
Looks very wild... and quite beautiful.
=^..^=
The sea was very wild! We went back hear at low tide for a swim and it was amazing! I'll post a blog about that soon👍
Glad you stayed safe and got these great shots, long exposures without a tripod are tricky, but glad you found a way to stabilize the camera on a rock
I love the silky feel to the flowing water you got here, they are all awesome shots
Great camera also the A7iii thats what I use
Cheers mate glad you like the pics 😊With out a tripod is very tricky, but it worked out in the end.
The Sony a7iii is a beast. So fun to use and every time I learn something new.
It worked out super well
I totally agree about the A7iii, i have some money set aside for new camera gear, I do love my iii but reading the initial reviews on the A7iv I must say it is tempting but will hold off till people get there hand son the production model next year and then decide between that and new lenses
I bet the long exposure is tough with all the motion in the ocean! hahaha i loved the second to last image the best. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers I'm glad you enjoyed my pics 😊 I still have alot to learn with long exposure pics during the day.
