🎶 El Tuqueque 🎶 Flauta Dulce y Cuatro

Well, to give you a little context, a week ago I was cleaning out my sheet music folder and found an old repertoire of Venezuelan music, most of which are works by a great Venezuelan musician, much loved for his contributions to musical language and the restructuring of Venezuelan music.

Bueno para darles un poco de contexto, hace una semana estaba limpiando mi carpeta de partituras y encontré un viejo repertorio de musica venezolana, el cual la mayoría son obras de un gran músico venezolano, muy querido por sus aportes al lenguaje musical y al reestructuración de la música Venezuela.

This is the maestro Vicente Emilio Sojo, who was the founder of the "Orfeon Lamas", considered one of the main creators of the modern school in Venezuelan music. His work also included the creation and compilation of children's songs, such as this beautiful piece "El Tuqueque"

Se trata del maestro Vicente Emilio Sojo, fue el fundador del "Orfeon Lamas", considerado uno de los principales creadores de la escuela moderna en la música venezolana. Su trabajo también estuvo conformado por la creación y recopilación de canción infantiles, como lo es está linda pieza "El Tuqueque"

This piece was one of the first I learned on Recorder and it has a great sentimental value for me, mostly "El Tuqueque" is played in a slow tempo, transmitting sadness and melancholy, but I am going to interpret it differently and as it was taught to me 😁❤️. It is quite common to hear this song in children's choirs, since maestro Sojo was characterized mostly by his work of teaching music to children, although he is also recognized as an excellent Musicologist.

Esta pieza fue una de las primeras que me aprendí en Flauta dulce y tiene un valor sentimental muy grande para mí, mayormente "El Tuqueque" se ejecuta en un tiempo lento, transmitiendo tristeza y melancolía, pero yo la voy a interpretar diferente y como me la enseñaron a mi 😁❤️. Es bastante común escuchar esta canción en corales infantiles, pues el maestro Sojo se caracterizó mas que todo por su labor de enseñanza musical hacia los infantes, aunque también se le reconoce como un excelente Musicólogo.

I wanted to give my own touch to the interpretation and that's why I made it a little more lively, I also wanted to do the accompaniment with the cuatro since with this it sounds a little happier, I must admit that I had not played this instrument for quite some time 😅 I had to get used to the strings and all that again. For me, this song, like the Venezuelan school songbook, are pearls of our music. Many young people grew up with one of these songs and most of the introductory music teachers (including myself) use a lot of maestro Sojo's resources, since he compiled and structured Venezuelan music very well. All this because there was a time when the culture in our country was very deteriorated and deformed thanks to the different mixes of cultures coming from outside. Musicians like Sojo and Federico Villena were the driving forces behind this compilation movement, as well as their contributions to different fields of our music, bringing with them the birth of the modern music school. This is because, compared to the time, their contributions to harmony, counterpoint and musical language were clearly visionary.

Quise darle mi toque a la interpretación y por eso la hice un poco más movida, también quise hacer el acompañamiento con el cuatro ya que con este suena un poco más alegre, debo admitir que tenía bastante tiempo sin tocar este instrumento 😅 me tuve que acostumbrar de nuevo a las cuerdas y todo eso. Está canción para mí al igual que el cancionero escolar venezolano son perlas de nuestra música, muchísimos jóvenes crecieron con alguna de estas canciones y la mayoría de los profesores de iniciación musical (incluyéndome) utilizan mucho el recurso del maestro Sojo, ya que el recopiló y estructuró muy bien la musica venezolana, todo esto porque hubo un tiempo donde la cultura en nuestro pais estuvo muy deteriorada y deformada gracias a las diferentes mezclas de culturas provenientes de afuera, músicos como Sojo y Federico Villena fueron los impulsores de ese movimiento de recopilación, asi como sus aportes a diferentes campos de nuestra música, trayendo consigo el nacimiento de la escuela musical moderna, esto porque a comparación de la época sus aportes a la armonía, contra punto y lenguaje musical fueron netamente visionarios.
