Thai foods

Pumpkin.
Pumpkin.. huh? Pumpkin pumpkin.. pumpkin.. This is pumpkin! Hey hey hey! Welcome back to our hungry adventures! Guys, when you come to Thailand what markets do you usually visit? Probably night markets because there you can finda variety of street foods, various barbecue and beautiful lights. also you're probably visiting floating markets where you can find vendors selling delicious street foods on their boats.
sometimes you can visit morning markets if you like to get up early in the morning.. and if you stay in Thailand for a long time probably you visit wet markets, where you can buy fresh vegetables meat and fish.. However, there is also another type of the markets which usually western tourists overlook on their trip to Thailand.. ano these markets are called "flea markets".. and today I'm inviting to visit one of my favorite flea markets in Bangkok.. and I will try to explain why I love this flea market so much and why you should visit it on your next trip to Thailand.. today we will be looking for one and
two dollar street food as usual.. today we will try to talk to some locals.. today you will geta chance to learna couple new words in Thai language.. so please make sure that subtitles are on - you just need to hit the CC button in the settings of your YouTube player. Anyway if
you've got some time and empty space in your stomach and you are ready to waste your precious time together with me.. Then join me in this hungry adventure! Let's go! Today we are visiting a place called Nawamin Khlong Chan Market, stretched along this canal.. it is a
flea market which is open only one time a week - on Thursday from 4 pm till 8 pm. and actually all of the flea markets in Thailand are open from 4 pm till 8 PM..good job! And in my opinion this time is ideal for exploring Thailand outdoors.. because it's not burning hot anymore - not like in the afternoon time. you can enjoy the sunset somewhere over the city or over the river or a canal... and variety of foods in flea markets is
simply amazing.. prices are not touristy and in fact there are not that many tourists. and flea markets are loved by local people.. so every time when you a foreigner are coming to a flea market - you get a lot of attention.. it's like you're entering a completely different world, which
in very touristy parts of Thailand is kind of hard to find..because Thailand is a popular tourist destination..Anyway, let's explore this market together and then you will tell me if you love it or not! Hello, what do you have for sale? what do you have? Do you cook desserts? yes,desserts.. what ind of desserts? kanom dok don..kanom dok don? really? is it sweet? a little bit sweet. he
can speak Thai.. I can speak Thai just a little.. slightly sweet.. slightly sweet? okay, I want to try.. May I buyone, please? but she came first, she get the nextvportion.. tell him, tell him! she is the first.. Oh i can wait,it's okay. Ah.. he speaks Thai.. beautiful flowers.. It looks like a flower, right? yes, yes.. I understand now.. 20Baht for such an amazing dessert, which takes some
time for cooking it. let's try.. let's try it somewhere..somewhere here.. ah very hot.. very very hot. basically it's just a soft pancake with coconut... fresh coconut meat on top.. I need to try one more! yeah it's very good.. I think she add really tiny bit of sugar, because it's not sweet at all. very tasty "Kanom Dok Don""Kanom" means "a dessert".. "Dok" probably comes from "Dok Mai" which means "a flower".. "Kanom Dok
Don'.. I don't know what means "Don".. but l've never seen this type of dessert anywhere in in Bangkok.Looks very appetising.. Beautiful.. very beautiful.. he-he-he, a foreigner says it's beautiful.. it's like mountains. mountains dessert! all right, now we're entering the food
section.. this long corridor with food on the left side, food on the right side.. most of these are Ready-to-Eat meals which you can grab and eat at home, because there are no tables here.. also you can buy here fresh vegetables if you need.. this pack of chili costs 10 Baht only.. this is Thai eggplant.. l believe this sign says that one por tion costs 20 baht here.. 1 bag - 20 Baht? yes,
20baht for 1 bag.. or really? everything for 20 Baht? yes, correct. pork curry.. this is something with bambo0 shoots. 20 Baht for portion.. rice is not included.probably rice is extra 5 Baht or something.. And sometimes you guys ask me - do people in Thailand cook at home? Well, some Thai people cook their food at home if they've got kitchen. but in majority of standard Thai style apartments there is simple no kitchen, so it is impossible to cook regular food ordinner at home.. which is why there are so many flea
markets everywhere. it is simply Thai traditions andThai culture.. you finished work at 5-6-7 pm and then you're walking to your place or you're driving to your home.. you're tired, you don't want to waste any more of your time for cooking and buying groceries, wasting expensive electricity..

Hello. Hello! so you just walk througha market.. Can take a photo? Sure, we can take a photo! Oh, I am making a video.. yes, it's a video.video about Thai food.. You speak Thai very well. thank
you.. Where are you from? I am from Russia.. I just returned from Seattle in US Wow.. How is it there? it's really nice.. But Thailand is better? I think so. I think in Seattle there is not much of street food.. Generally, in America what can you find? Hamburgers, corn dogs, hot dogs.. hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza.. No papaya
salad? No fermented fish sauce.. nothing.. I see.. but over here we have a lot.. yeah and it's easy - you finishedvwork, and then you just walk in a market anywhere, buy some food and go eat at home. they have a lot of markets over here.. I mean there is a lot of foods in thebmarket.. yes yes.. it's so different, so different.. I mean
it's different from western. absolutely.. over here
everything is cheap! you have to find the land lot only, but over here it's free.. yeah you just walk 10 meters from your home- and you can find lots of delicious food.. I just came because | decided to come back to Thailand. I sold my house in Seattle. ah you stayed long time.. yeah and I sold my car.. I grew up over there.I finished high school over there, got there my bachelor
degree and master degree.. wow. I've worked about sending containers overseas at the Seattle port.. How many years you've been there? I've been there for 15years.. right now I'm 40 years old.. 40 now? So you lived there since you were 25 years old? Yes.. woW wow.that's a long long time.. Amazing.. I missed a lot about Thai food.. over there just like you said - there is nothing. But over here is just wow - tonns of food! That's why when Western people come to Thailand-they just they get crazy because there is so much delicious food and such low prices, and nice people. it's just so much different.. yes.. that's different.. over hereis warm culture. true.. true.. they have friendships, relationships here.. but over there they just. sometimesbthey speak selfish. don't care about others.. Selfish here? come on.. No, no.. I meant not here... i meant over there. these are different cultures.. yeah.. they look after themselves, they never care about other people.they just... "oh, this is mine, "and this is mine". but over here they share.. the one thing over here they like to say"never mind".. never mind.. let it go.. But in Thailand.Thai people think about everybody like about their
brothers and sisters.. Exactly.. That's why it's different from Western countries.. But something in the Western countries is better than Thailand, but l just compare the culture and relationships.. it's like you said - brothers and sisters.. everyone have to share, help each other, share with each other, call each other.. More warm and more friendly even to people they don't know.. that what is amazing.. it's true, it's true.. that's why over here they like to say it's a big family in Thailand. but over there for me.. I grew up in Seattle.. They are like a single family.
but over here it's not a single family, it's a big family. And Seattle was pretty cold, right? Yeah, it's cold and it's raining and raining.. it's Atlantic ocean, right? It's right on on the ocean coastline? Pacific ocean.. Ah yeah it's Pacific 0cean. Seattle is on the border with Canada.yeah on another side from the New York.. yeah it's the west side.. yes it's the west side.. yeah.. welcome back
then! thank you very much! nice to meet you.. you have to walk around.. yeah yeah yeah.. I'm surprised. A lot of food for me too.. Il just came back to Thailand.. wow..that's making me feel so surprised.. everything is the same. food, people.. they enjoy each other.. wow.. this makes me miss Thailand a lot.. that's why I got back to
Seattle and sold my house and sold my car.. and
