King Troll

Surprisingly, I have been enjoying lots of the stuff on Netflix that have been popping up on my feed recently.

But all good things come to an end :p

Troll is a movie I was waiting to be released since I first saw its trailer a couple weeks ago as it seemed like a decent monster/Godzilla type of film.

Troll is a Norwegian monster film directed and co-written by Roar Uthaug. The film stars Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, Gard B. Eidsvold, Pål Richard Lunderby and Eric Vorenholt. Troll was released on 1 December 2022 by Netflix. source

Deep in the Dovre mountain, something gigantic wakes up after a thousand years in captivity. The creature destroys everything in its path and quickly approaches Oslo. source

So, troll isn't a bad movie. But unfortunately it's like watching yet another iteration of King Kong. It has some decent, believable cgi. The acting is good enough, the cinematography beautiful etc etc. The only lacking part is probably the action scenes. It's a monster movie after all, so I would expect more havoc and mayhem.

But at the end of the day, if you have seen Kong it is pretty much the same movie. Humans poke intelligent monster that is the only one left of its species. Monster wants to mind its own business. Humans go pew pew to no effect. There are casualties here and there. Beautiful woman understands the monster like no one else. Blah blah blah. The movie kept reminding me of 2005 Kong but instead of New York we get Oslo 😅

I guess I'll give it a 6/10. You can live without watching this one..

I watched a clip of this movie and added it to Watch list but woah... 6/10! Have watched Kong already so probably going to be better watch when there's not any option left.

Well, As of now watching "Wednesday" series.... It's like trending everywhere! Have you watched that yet?

Thanks for sharing! I saw it on the Netflix homescreen yesterday, and was thinking of watching it.
Now, I’m not so sure anymore 😂 unless the kids want to see it of course…

(Edited)

I have seen the trailer too, it looks promising but sometimes trailers can be deceiving. I guess we'd have to wait till it's officially out

I just finished this one and enjoyed it a lot. It reminded me of the Norwegian version of Godzilla or Kong as you pointed out.

I thought it was a fun twist on an old folktale. I get where you're coming from though, it was definitely the basic "mega monster" destroys Oslo script! 🤣🍻

I added Troll to my favorites and was gone watch it and I had big hopes on what a troll story could have been envisioned into. Big like another King Kong movie is not happy news but probably will give it a try nevertheless.
