Traveling the World #226 - Fitzroy Falls Lookout @ Fitzroy Falls, Australia
Hi Everyone,
Fitzroy Falls look out is a short walk from the Morton National Park 20 minutes drive from Nowra. After we parked our car outside of the national park which is $4 per car, we started heading towards the waterfall along the track. Most people who visit would try to at least visit the waterfall and see if they can manage to walk further to different points. Along the way, there were lot of nature to see and it was a great opportunity for the kids to understand the outdoors other than in our local parks.
From the start of the track, you can see that the walk to Fitzroy Falls is only 150m which was an easy walk for most people. In particular, the path is pretty flat and looked after so even families with young kids can visit. 3 minute walk will get us to the first point. Our aim is to walk further past the falls so we can see the waterfall on the other side of the park to get another view. As we walk along, there are very clear signs which path to take so there is no confusion. A note, although the path is pretty flat, you aren’t allowed to bring your bikes there.
We got to the first lookout point where most people will stop after a few minutes. The platform stretches outwards so I couldn’t stand too close to the edge as I am scared of heights. It was really tall and looking down needed lots of courage. As you can see, this is where most people will reach and stop.
The kids were in good spirits so we continued on to the next lookout point and I am very keen to see the waterfall from the other side of the park. The roads were a bit slipper and muddy as we had very heavy rain so it is best to come prepared and wear some dark sneakers. The other thing is to make sure the kids are with an adult as there are no barriers or fences on the side of the walk. Although its mostly very safe, with the heavy rain, things were pretty tricky. After around 20 minutes walk in, we are at the next stop. We could see the waterfall on the other opposite side and it looked fabulous. It was well worth the walk in good weather and it is highly recommended that if you are fit and up for a nice walk, it is best to walk to the second stop. We decided to head back to the car and not continue on as it will take another 20 minutes to walk back and by that time, the kids will be pretty tired. It was such a lovely walk, lovely stopover!

That's nice that you will reach the waterfalls so quick and perhaps lots of kids will enjoy the journey. We have some of these places too but it usually doesn't take less than 1 hour to get there :)
Yes we were pretty surprised how short the first stop was so we decided to go further since the kids were pretty happy with their friends ... it was definitely a nice stop over to get some fresh air :)
