Laem Set Mountain, Koh Samui, Thailand.

On Monday, I had to fly myself to Koh Samui Island due to a work project, I had to carry out but in order to fly to the island, I first had to take a PCR test which had to show a negative result which was successful. I flew out of Bangkok Airport to Koh Samui Island, which is a one and half flight from Bangkok city, the airport was very well organized making the checking in and flight very simply, I was a little concerned whether everything would go smoothly at the airport as with ongoing changing of rules to be able to fly but it all when like clockwork and found myself on the island without any massive dramas.

On arrival to the island, I was picked up by a drive from the resort that, I was going to be staying at for the week. The Centara Resort is more away from the tourist areas siting on a mountain with the villas spread out across the mountain all having exceptional sea views and lush green forest around the villas.

I was honestly stunned how nice the surrounding of this tropical resort were kept very clean and tidy and was all nature, it had time to recovery from the massive traffic this island was use to getting, I didn't mind at all the peacefulness at this resort it was enjoyable and relaxing.

After arriving at the Centra Resort at mid-morning, I met with my clients at lunch time and spoke about what had to be done the next day, I was free to do my own thing so, I had decided to hike up the mountain which was behind the resort, I consultant with the staff whether it was ok and safe for me to do so, they did say, it was perfectly alright to do so if, I had the strength and energy to climb up this steep mountain then go ahead. They said if you can get to the top of this mountain you would be very well rewarded with the stunning views you will see.

It was not going to be any easy task the mountain was steep and wet, it really had no designated pathways to lead you up to the top of the mountain apart from some stone steps that had been placed around part of the lower mountain where the guest could go for a wonder around, in able for me to make this journey to the top of the mountain was just to follow my instincts and be careful where, I stepped without sliding back down the mountain.

When I had climbed the few steps that were put around the resort for the guest to wonder around the lower part of the mountain the climb became harder but luckily it wasn't dense jungle and having many boulders around the mountain allowed me to climb around the boulders were there wasn't thick jungle.

I really didn't know how far up the mountain, I was or how long it was going to take me to get to the top, I had already been climbing for a hour and a half but still could see no sign of the mountain top but I kept climbing patiently and enjoying the natural nature around me, these huge boulders with these massive Banyan tree roots embracing these boulders were amazing to see.

There were some really giant wild plants growing up here on this mountain and been monsoon period in Thailand at the moment really made the forest look amazingly green the boulders, never seen so many and all huge and beautiful, I was starting to see the top of the mountain the coconut trees were standing tall pointing into the sky and after nearly walking three hours slowly and carefully in a steep climb, I could feel my calf muscles burning but I could smell the top of this mountain.

When I finally reach the top of Laem Set Mountain, I could see what the staff meant the climb was definitely not for the fate hearted, I knew I was going to be sour all over but I didn't care because, I had achieved my mission and I am one that doesn't like to fail on a mission, all my will power and strength was put into achieving this missions.

The views on top of this mountain were just spectacular, I just wished there was more blue sky but then, it is monsoon period in Thailand but never the less, I was able to see the Gulf of Thailand stretching out as far as Mae Nam Beach in one direction and over to Chaweng Beach in the other direction, I was just so grateful that, I had made it to the top of Laem Set Mountain to enjoy these stunning views over the Gulf of Thailand.
