Hello everyone!

Until the day finally came, the first round of Hivechess happened yesterday and I was quite happy to be able to participate, I remembered about 20 minutes before the tournament started (I think I will have to start setting an alarm for every tournament as then I end up totally forgetting that I have to play T_T).

For those who don't know, Hivechess is a tournament that has been going on for quite some time, this year being almost 3 years since the first season came to an end. I'm quite happy to be able to participate in this season 15 and this time try to give a much better performance than I have given in past seasons, which to be honest I don't know how long ago was the last time I participated.

This time I decided to play using my original Lichess account, that is, the Lichess account I used when I was in my high school days and trained chess daily, my golden days I would call them. Currently I don't have that much elo, since I'm barely around 1950, but I'm sure that if I keep playing I can overcome that and also start earning more ELO within Lichess (I have to stop focusing so much on chess.com xd).

About my games, I have to admit that I made a LOT of mistakes, especially when I started to run out of time. My tournament started playing against @stayoutoftherz, against whom I had a 0-2 match, I guess from games we had played in past years haha. Nh5 was destructive for Black, so there wasn't much to do in that position.

And for my second game I ended up making a blunder that cost me the game, in fact, it seems like a beginner's mistake: I let them checkmate me in a painful way haha. Playing against @justfavour I was able to get a piece advantage in the middle game of the game, but I didn't analyze at all the moves I was making because inside me I said "Well, his queen is on the queenside so he won't be able to do anything because he's too far from the rook", and in just a few moves I let them combine to make pressure on g7 and ended up giving away the game :(

Something similar happened to me against @emichessmaster, as I wasn't attentive to the board and started playing VERY fast, but it's because I take too much time to think about the moves and then end up with no time at all for the crucial moments. I guess it's something I need to polish up, because so far I've only given away games where I have a solid or potentially winning position.

In this game I almost lost because of the time since I activated the berserk mode (taking into account that I was playing quite slow) and I still managed to come out victorious. At one point in the game we reached this position and I was a bit impressed to see this simple move in only 3 seconds, so, here I ask you: what should Black do to win the game?

Against @anomadsoul it was a pretty calm game, in fact, both sides made pretty solid plans and we got quite evenly matched at the end, but the time pressure made one of us succumb as soon as possible. At one point in the game I was absolutely sure I would lose by time, but at least my brain and hands didn't betray me haha.

And again against @stayoutoftherz! In this game there was no combination that made me win, as the game went all the way to the endgame. The difference in material I got thanks to a bishop attack that happened in the middle game, so that's what allowed me to win after all. Now my match against @stayoutoftherz stands at 2-2, I declare this a draw for now.

I think so far this was my most painful game, against @fcastro17 I lost because I also wanted to play just as fast and didn't take my time to think about how I was slowly killing myself. I don't know why I decided to play just as fast as him instead of just seeing what was happening on the board, considering he was also about to lose by time (and with berserk active, the clock doesn't add more time per move). After all, it's blitz, but it hurt quite a bit to lose these points this way haha.

My last game was against @tinaungsoe, a smooth game although something that personally bothered me was that despite having an unstoppable checkmate, instead of simply surrendering, he decided to use up all the time on the clock, which prevented me from playing another game and probably winning another point, who knows xd.

But that was the short summary of my games so far. I'm pretty happy with the results, it was a pretty relaxing tournament and I really enjoyed being able to participate in a tournament of this kind after such a long time. Huge thanks to @stayoutoftherz for organizing this, though it's weird not seeing @jaki01 around either :( hope you're well if you read this Jaki.

Hasta que por fin llegó el día, la primera ronda de Hivechess ocurrió el día de ayer y estuve bastante feliz de poder participar, lo recordé unos 20 minutos antes de que comenzara el torneo (creo que tendré que comenzar a colocar una alarma para cada torneo ya que luego termino olvidando totalmente que debo jugar T_T).

Para los que no sepan, Hivechess es un torneo que lleva bastante tiempo realizándose, este año cumpliéndose ya casi 3 años desde que la primera season llegó a su fin. Estoy bastante feliz de poder participar en esta season 15 y esta vez intentar dar un perfomance mucho mejor que el que he dado en temporadas pasada, que siendo sincero no sé hace cuánto fue la última vez que participé.

En esta oportunidad decidí jugar utilizando mi cuenta de Lichess original, es decir, la cuenta de Lichess que utilizaba cuando estaba en mis épocas de secundaria y entrenaba ajedrez diariamente, mis épocas de oro las llamaría yo. Actualmente no tengo tanto elo, puesto que apenas estoy alrededor de los 1950, pero estoy seguro de que si sigo jugando podré superar eso y también comenzar a ganar más ELO dentro de Lichess (tengo que dejar de enfocarme tanto en chess.com xd).

Acerca de mis partidas, he de admitir que cometí UN MONTÓN de errores, especialmente cuando comenzaba a quedarme sin tiempo. Mi torneo comenzó jugando contra @stayoutoftherz, contra quien tenía un match de 0-2, supongo que de partidas que habíamos jugado en años pasados haha. Para esta ocasión pude redimirme y la jugada 1. Nh5 era destructiva para las negras, así que no había mucho para hacer en esa posición.

Y para mi segunda partida terminé cometiendo un error garrafal que me costó la partida, de hecho, parece un error de principiante: Dejé que me hicieran jaque mate de una forma penosa haha. Jugando contra @justfavour pude obtener una pieza de ventaja en el medio juego de la partida, pero no analicé para nada las jugadas que estaba haciendo porque dentro de mí dije: "Bien, su dama está en el flanco de dama así que no podrá hacer nada porque está muy lejos de la torre", y en solo unas cuantas jugadas dejé que se combinaran para hacer presión en g7 y terminé regalando la partida :(

Algo similar me sucedió contra @emichessmaster, pues no estuve atento al tablero y comencé a jugar MUY rápido, pero es porque me tomo demasiado tiempo para pensar las jugadas y luego termino sin nada de tiempo para los momentos cruciales. Supongo que es algo que debo pulir, porque hasta ahora solo he regalado partidas en las que tengo una posición sólida o potencialmente ganadora.

En esta partida estuve a punto de perder por el tiempo puesto que activé el modo berserk (teniendo en cuenta que estaba jugando bastante lento) y aún así logré salir victorioso. En un punto de la partida llegamos a esta posición y me impresionó un poco lograr ver esta simple jugada en solo 3 segundos, así que, aquí les pregunto: ¿qué deberían hacer las negras para ganar la partida?

Contra @anomadsoul fue una partida bastante calmada, de hecho, ambos bandos realizamos planes bastantes sólidos y llegamos con bastante igualdad al final, pero la presión del tiempo hacía que uno de los dos sucumbiera lo más pronto posible. En un momento de la partida estaba totalmente seguro de que perdería por tiempo, pero al menos mi cerebro y mis manos no me traicionaron haha.

¡Y de nuevo contra @stayoutoftherz! En esta partida no hubo una combinación que me hiciera ganar, puesto que la partida se desarrolló hasta el final. La diferencia de material la obtuve gracias a un ataque con alfil que ocurrió en el medio juego, así que eso fue lo que me permitió ganar después de todo. Ahora mi match contra @stayoutoftherz se mantiene en 2-2, declaro esto un empate por ahora.

Creo que hasta ahora esta fue mi partida más dolorosa, contra @fcastro17 perdí debido a que también quise jugar igual de rápido y no me tomé mi tiempo para pensar en cómo lentamente me estaba suicidando. No sé por qué decidí jugar igual de rápido que él en lugar de simplemente ver lo que estaba pasando en el tablero, teniendo en cuenta que él también estaba a punto de perder por tiempo (y con el berserk activo, el reloj no añade más tiempo por jugada). Después de todo, es blitz, pero me dolió bastante perder estos puntos de esta forma haha.

Mi última partida fue contra @tinaungsoe, una partida sin problemas aunque algo que personalmente me molestó fue que a pesar de tener un jaque mate imparable, en lugar de simplemente rendirse, decidió agotar todo el tiempo del reloj, cosa que me impidió jugar otra partida y probablemente ganar otro punto, quién sabe xd.

Pero eso fue el pequeño resumen de mis partidas hasta ahora. Estoy bastante feliz con los resultados, fue un torneo bastante relajante y me gustó muchísimo poder participar en un torneo de esta clase luego de tanto tiempo. Muchísimas gracias a @stayoutoftherz por organizar esto, aunque es raro no haber visto a @jaki01 por aquí tampoco :(
