Finally the second round of the 15th season of Hivechess has arrived, and I have to admit that I'm not very satisfied with my performance in this round, I lost games that although it's true that I didn't have advantageous position or something like that, I simply made beginner mistakes that led me to horrible positions. After all, fortunately I didn't do so bad in the last rounds and managed to be in the top 10.

I didn't have any really outstanding games, but I will try to comment on the highlights within each one.

My first game was against @tin.aung.soe, coincidentally the same person with whom was my last game in the first round of this season. The game in general was very balanced, we managed to get out of the opening and most of the middle game with a totally even score, but I guess that time did not allow @ting.aung.soe to analyze more deeply the threats that were on the kingside.

After 1.... Ne5, White played 2. Nf6+ and after Kh8 3. Nxd7. There were ideas with 3. Qh6 but I didn't manage to see that in depth, I only saw that Black had 3.... Nf3+ and then Ng5, so I decided to take the easy way.

My second game was against @sawko, a game lost by small mistakes. In the opening we played I gave away a pawn after a knight move, and the game was all about exploiting that advantage throughout (and I was trying to get that lost piece back).

In the end, what sealed my fate was a piece sacrifice that I thought would be a winner, but @sawko had a few intermediate moves that would instantly give him the win. After 1. Qf3 I played Qh2+ 2. Kf1 and Rd6, and White played 3. Bf4 and after that, Black had nothing to do, so I abandoned the game.

My game against @fiona777 was pretty straightforward because of the mistake of keeping the king in the center of the board all the time. After a few moves, I managed to get a totally winning position, I guess he is not someone so familiar with chess, so for those not so familiar with the sport: A basic concept of chess is to avoid keeping the king in the center of the board, as it is more prone to receive attacks from both flanks and is, in general, much more vulnerable.

My game against @vjap55 was balanced until I started to make a lot of mistakes that made me lose a lot of my material and at the same time led me to a fulminant defeat. I don't know how I could make so many mistakes in a row, but basically I left a lot of pieces and vjap didn't miss the opportunity to eat them.

And after my fulminating defeat against @vjap55, I played a game against @stranger27. Nxd5 (underestimating the threat I had on f2), Black played Dxf2+ and after 2. Kh1 Black proceeded with Nd3, a totally destructive move that led me to instant defeat. I made the worst possible move which was Bxd3 and after Rxe1+, I lost the game.

At this point of the tournament I only had 2 points and my spirits were low haha. But I decided not to quit because I promised myself to play all the rounds until the end of the season.

The other 2 games I played were quite easy victories due to misconceptions in all the games.

My penultimate game was against @stayoutoftherz and it was also quite worrying how I gave it away. In the end the game was an agreed draw because I couldn't find a combination that would lead me to victory, but after having analyzed the game in depth I noticed that there was indeed a move that would lead me to a totally winning position: In the position above, what move did Black have to reply with to get to a winning position?

In this game a closed Sicilian was played, and I basically won thanks to the main plans of this variation. After 1. Bh6, Black had no chance to save himself from White's imminent checkmate. So it was a good end to the tournament, and I managed to finish with 5.5 points, unfortunately I wasn't part of those people who finished with 6 points haha.

But otherwise, I feel quite comfortable with my result after so many misfortunes. Thank you very much for reading all this.

Por fin llegó la segunda ronda de la 15 temporada de Hivechess, y tengo que admitir que no me siento muy satisfecho con mi perfomance en esta ronda, perdí partidas que si bien es cierto no tenía posición ventajosa o algo así, simplemente cometí errores de principiante que me llevaron a posiciones horribles. Después de todo, afortunadamente no me fue tan mal en las últimas rondas y logré quedar entre los primeros 10.

No tuve partidas realmente resaltantes, pero intentaré comentar los momentos más importantes dentro de cada una.

Mi primera partida fue contra @tin.aung.soe, casualmente la misma persona con la que fue mi última partida en la primera ronda de esta season. La partida en general fue muy balanceada, logramos salir de la apertura y gran parte del medio juego con una vealuación totalmente emparejada, pero supongo que el tiempo no permitió a @ting.aung.soe analizar más a profundidad las amenazas que estaban en el flanco de rey.

Luego de 1... Ne5, las blancas jugaron 2. Nf6+ y luego de Kh8 3. Nxd7. Habían ideas con 3. Qh6 pero no logré ver tan a profundidad, solo vi que las negras tenían 3... Nf3+ y luego Ng5, así que decidí tomar el camino fácil.

Mi segunda partida fue contra @sawko, una partida perdida por errores pequeños. En la apertura que jugamos regalé un peón luego de una jugada de caballo, y la partida se basó en aprovechar esa ventaja en todo momento (y yo intentaba recuperar esa pieza perdida).

Al final, lo que marcó mi destino fue un sacrificio de pieza que creí que sería ganador, pero @sawko tenía unas cuantas jugadas intermedias que le darían la victoria instantáneamente. Luego de 1. Qf3 jugué Qh2+ 2. Kf1 y Rd6, y las blancas jugaron 3. Bf4 y luego de allí, las negras no tenían nada que hacer, así que abandoné la partida.

Mi partida contra @fiona777 fue bastante sencilla por el error de mantener el rey en el centro del tablero todo el tiempo. Luego de unas cuantas jugadas, logré obtener una posición totalmente ganadora, supongo que no es alguien tan familiarizado con el ajedrez, así que para los que no estén tan familiarizados con el deporte: Un concepto básico del ajedrez es evitar mantener el rey en el centro del tablero, ya que es más propenso a recibir ataques por ambos flancos y es, en general, mucho más vulnerable.

Mi partida contra @vjap55 estuvo equilibrada hasta que comencé a cometer un montón de errores que me hicieron perder gran parte de mi material y al mismo tiempo me llevó a una derrota fulminante. No sé cómo pude cometer tantos errores seguidos, pero básicamente me dejé un montón de piezas y vjap no perdió la oportunidad para comerlas.

Y luego de mi fulminante derrota contra @vjap55, jugué una partida contra @stranger27. En esta partida perdí todos mis ánimos luego de haber cometido un error que me costó toda la partida, así que luego de haber jugado 1. Cxd5 (subestimando la amenaza que tenía en f2), las negras jugaron Dxf2+ y luego de 2. Kh1 las negras procedieron con Nd3, una jugada totalmente destrozadora y que me llevó a la derrota instantánea. Hice la peor jugada posible que fue Bxd3 y luego de Rxe1+, perdí la partida.

En este punto del torneo solamente tenía 2 puntos y los ánimos por el piso haha. Pero decidí no abandonar porque me prometí jugar todas las rondas hasta el final de la season.

Las otras 2 partidas que jugué fueron victorias bastante fáciles por errores de conceptos en todas las partidas.

Mi penúltima partida fue contra @stayoutoftherz y también fue bastante preocupante cómo la regalé. Al final la partida fue tablas acordadas porque no podía encontrar una combinación que me llevara a la victoria, pero luego de haber analizado a profundidad la partida noté que efectivamente sí había una jugada que me llevaba a una posición totalmente ganadora: En la posición de arriba, ¿con qué movimiento tuvieron que contestar las negras para llegar a una posición ganadora?

En esta partida se jugó una siciliana cerrada, y básicamente gané gracias a los planes principales de esta variante. Luego de 1. Bh6, las negras no tenían posibilidades de salvarse del inminente jaque mate de las blancas. Así que fue un buen cierre de torneo, y logré terminar con 5.5 puntos, lastimosamente no fui parte de esas personas que terminaron con 6 puntos haha.
