Finally, me here again. Since my last post in this community (almost 2 months now) I've been thinking and trying to force myself to watch a movie or some series to get out of the routine and start getting more excited to watch one that has caught my attention for a while now.

So, for this occasion, I bring you my experience watching Moon Knight, a Marvel series that came out quite a while ago and since it came out I've only heard very good reviews of it, but I never took the time to watch it: Until finally, the time came.

The beginning

To be 100% honest, I wasn't expecting that much from this series since it was about a Marvel superhero that wasn't as famous compared to others with much more potential... but the authenticity and personality of this specific one were what, in my opinion, started making this series that much more amazing.

The main character is Steven Grant, starring Oscar Isaac, an actor who did a splendid job in this series and handled this role in a masterful way; I'll talk about this later.

Moon Knight begins by showing us our protagonist in a rather peculiar condition since he apparently tried to lock himself in his room by any means possible. I had already informed myself a bit about the origins of this character before watching the series, but to give you some context: basically, Moon Knight himself is the representation of a God through a human, i.e. an Avatar. And the Avatar of the Moon God (Khonshu) is our beloved Steven Grant, a person with multiple personality disorder.

The beginning was a bit slow, and totally confusing for those of us watching this series for the first time. In the beginning, we are not directly presented with what our protagonist has, so seeing the series from a point of view totally external to the Marvel world, it is quite easy to get lost or not have the slightest idea of what was happening on screen.

And just as it was slow, it was also pretty quick to show us things as important as the main antagonist of this series was: Arthur Harrow. From the beginning of the movie, you can easily deduce that he is the antagonist, right from the start he gives off all the vibes haha.

Despite the fact that Ethan Hawke is an actor who is 52 years old, the work they did to make him look a little older seemed to me to be quite accurate for the character he was portraying; not only this but also this character proved to be quite intimidating in every appearance he had in this first season.

To explain a little about this character: Arthur Harrow is the owner of a cult that worships the goddess Ammit, a Goddess who was locked up by consensus of the rest of the Egyptian gods because she was representing a threat to all the gods due to her participation in the lives of ordinary humans. These gods had to avoid as much as possible that humans detected their presence, and that is why they were totally forbidden to interact with a common person... but Khonshu and Ammit saw it in a totally different way.

To sum it up, they were both vigilantes but with different methodologies since Khonshu (the Moon God) waited for a murderer to commit a crime before he could punish him, while Ammit (Goddess of Death) punished them BEFORE they committed any crime, even if it meant having to kill even a child.

Because of this methodology, the consensus of Gods decided to lock Ammit up, while Khonshu was only warned if he intervened too much.

Having explained this, I want to talk about what I found to be the best success of this whole series:

Oscar Isaac

I think this actor has done an incomparable job to be able to represent Moon Knight in a masterful way. I don't know how it was possible and I don't know whose head came up with the idea, but to have hired a single actor to portray 3 CHARACTERS seemed incredible to me, and no, I'm not kidding: A single actor could perfectly represent 3 characters with totally different personalities, and the number of expressions, gestures, and movements, in general, was what characterized the immense work that Oscar Isaac put into this role.

As I already mentioned, Moon Knight is a character with a personality disorder and each one of them is totally different from the others. Mark Spector is the original, an ordinary person with a lot of training in martial arts, and Steven Grant is a much more fearful counterpart who had never resorted to violence, but with a great intellect: And finally, Jack Lockley, the most macabre and violent version of Moon Knight.

Personally, I think the work this man did is definitely one of the main reasons why Moon Knight can easily be considered Marvel's best series (although on a personal note, I like Loki better).

Before we move on: Let's talk a little bit about CGI.

CGI is something that has punished Marven with their latest installments, it's just a matter of sitting down and watching Thor: Love and Thunder or part of Spider-Man: No Way Home... the CGI has been horrible and this is something that Marvel has neglected greatly.

I'm beginning to believe that this industry giant has simply been in the business of bringing in as much content in as little time as possible, but this move has backfired on them big time with movies that have promised to be "important". I don't even want to make mention of Modok in Quantumania because these are things I want to talk about in more depth in another post.

But thankfully, Moon Knight did have some incredibly epic CGI. I don't know how Marvel could possibly have done such an amazing job with a series that, within the universe, they've been creating all this time, feels pretty out of place (and this is something that kept me away from watching it, and I currently regret it).

Conclusion

I know I've covered a bit of everything in this post, but to be concise: Moon Knight is an amazing series. It definitely gets a 10/10, and not just for being a Marvel fan, it's that you can simply watch it without even having seen a single Marvel movie and you'll be able to love it as much as I did.

Por fin, yo de nuevo por aquí. Desde mi último post en esta comunidad (ya casi 2 meses) he estado pensando e intentando obligarme a ver una película o alguna serie para salir de la rutina y comenzar a entusiasmarme más a ver una que me ha llamado la atención desde hace tiempo.

Así que, para esta ocasión les traigo mi experiencia viendo Moon Knight, una serie de Marvel que salió hace ya un buen tiempo y desde que salió solo he escuchado muy buenas reseñas de esta, pero nunca le dediqué tiempo a verla: Hasta que por fin llegó el momento.

Mientras leen este post, definitivamente les recomiendo tener esta asombrosa canción de Engelbert Humperdick. Me agradecerán luego haberles recomendado esta increíble pieza de canción:

El comienzo

Para ser 100% honesto, no esperaba tanto de esta serie ya que se trataba de un superhéroe de Marvel que no era tan famoso en comparación a otros con mucho más potencial.. pero la autenticidad y personalidad de este en específico fue lo que, en mi opinión, comenzó haciendo de esta serie muchísimo más increíble.

El personaje principal es Steven Grant, protagonizado por Oscar Isaac, un actor que hizo un trabajo espléndido en esta serie y haber manejado este papel de una forma magistral; ya hablaré de esto luego.

Moon Knight comienza mostrándonos a nuestro protagonista en una condición bastante peculiar, puesto que al parecer él mismo se intentaba encerrar en su cuarto por todos los medios posibles. Ya me había informado un poco acerca de los orígenes de este personaje antes de ver la serie, pero para darles contexto: Básicamente Moon Knight en sí es la representación de un Dios mediante un humano, es decir, un Avatar. Y el Avatar del Dios de la luna (Khonshu) es nuestro querido Steven Grant, una persona con trastorno de personalidad múltiple.

El comienzo fue algo lento, y totalmente confuso para los que veíamos esta serie por primera vez. En un principio no nos plantean directamente qué es lo que tiene nuestro protagonista, así que viendo la serie desde un punto de vista totalmente externo al mundo de Marvel, es bastante fácil perderse o no tener ni la más mínima idea de lo que estaba pasando en pantalla.

Y así como fue lento, también fue bastante rápido para mostrarnos cosas tan importantes como lo fue el principal antagonista de esta serie: Arthur Harrow. Desde el comienzo de la película puedes deducir fácilmente que es el antagonista, desde el principio da todas las vibras haha.

A pesar de que Ethan Hawke es un actor que tiene 52 años, el trabajo que hicieron para hacerlo parecer un poco más viejo me pareció bastante acertado para el personaje que estaba representando; no solamente esto, sino que también este personaje demostró ser bastante intimidante en cada aparición que tuvo en esta primera temporada.

Para explicarles un poco acerca de este personaje: Arthur Harrow es el dueño de un culto que adora a la diosa Ammit, una Diosa que fue encerrada por consenso del resto de dioses egipcios ya que esta estaba representando una amenaza para todos los dioses debido a su participación en la vida de los humanos comunes. Estos dioses debían evitar en lo mayor posible que los humanos detectaran su presencia, y es por esto que tenían prohibido totalmente el interactuar con una persona común.. pero Khonshu y Ammit lo veían de forma totalmente diferente.

Para resumirlo, ambos eran justicieros pero con distintas metodologías puesto que Khonshu (el Dios de la luna) esperaba a que un asesino convirtiera un crimen para poder castigarlo, mientras que Ammit (Diosa de la muerte) los castigaba ANTES de que cometieran cualquier crime, incluso si esto significa tener que matar incluso a un niño.

Debido a esta metodología, el consenso de Dioses decidó encerrar a Ammit, mientras que Khonshu solo fue advertido si llegaba a intervenir más de la cuenta.

Una vez explicado esto, quiero hablar de lo que me pareció el mejor acierto de toda esta serie:

Oscar Isaac

Creo que este actor ha hecho un trabajo incomparable para poder representar a Moon Knight de forma magistral. No sé cómo fue posible y no sé a qué cabeza se le ocurrió la idea, pero haber contratado un solo actor para representar a 3 PERSONAJES me pareció increíble, y no, no estoy bromeando: Un solo actor pudo representar perfectamente a 3 personajes con personalidades totalmente distintas, y la cantidad de expresiones, gestos y movimientos en general fueron lo que caracterizaron el inmenso trabajo que Oscar Isaac puso en este papel.

Como ya les mencioné, Moon Knight es un personaje con un trastorno de personalidad y cada una de ellas es totalmente diferente entre sí. Mark Spector siendo el original, una persona común con bastante entrenamiento en artes marciales, y Steven Grant siendo una contraparte muchísimo más miedosa y que nunca había recurrido a la violencia, pero con un gran intelecto: Y por último, Jack Lockley, la versión más macabra y violenta de Moon Knight.

Personalmente creo que el trabajo que hizo este hombre es definitivamente uno de los principales motivos por los que Moon Knight puede fácilmente ser considerada la mejor serie de Marvel (aunque de forma personal, me gusta más Loki).

Antes de seguir avanzando: Hablemos un poco acerca del CGI.

El CGI es algo que ha castigado a Marven con sus últimas entregas, solo es cuestión de sentarse a mirar Thor: Love and Thunder o parte de Spiderman: No Way Home.. el CGI ha estado siendo horrible y esto es algo que Marvel ha descuidado enormemente.

Comienzo a creer que este gigante de la industria simplemente se ha dedicado a traer la mayor cantidad de contenido en el menor tiempo posible, pero esta jugada les ha salido muy caro con películas que han prometido ser "importantes". Ni siquiera quiero hacer mención de Modok en Quantumania porque son cosas que quiero hablar más a profundidad en otro post.

Pero afortunadamente, Moon Knight sí tuvo un CGI increíblemente épico. No sé cómo es posible que Marvel haya hecho un trabajo tan asombroso con una serie que, dentro del universo que han estado creando todo este tiempo, se siente bastante fuera de lugar (y esto es algo que me mantuvo alejado de verla, y actualmente me arrepiento).

Conclusión

Sé que he abarcado un poco de todo en este post, pero para ser conciso: Moon Knight es una increíble serie. Definitivamente se lleva un 10/10, y no solamente por ser un fan de Marvel, es que sencillamente puedes verla sin siquiera haber visto ni una sola película de Marvel y te podrá encantar tanto como a mí.
