Don't bogart the can on #toiletthursday

While recently in Waynesville, North Carolina, on business, I stopped at Bogart's for a meal. I was very impressed with the relaxed décor of the place. First, there was subdued lighting, which is much more relaxing and cozy than garish overhead lights like many places use. There was also a lovely light-and-dark theme with the wood, with light-colored wooden tables and dark-colored wooden seats.

Being in an area where black bears roam in the nearby forests and mountains, there were little black bears on some of the tables. You can see them on the table to the right in the above pic. (TIP: Users of PEAKD can zoom, zoom, zoom-in and see them up closely!) They reminded me very much of a similar black bear toy I had as a child. My family once passed through the Great Smokey Mountains on a return trip from conducting some business in another city. We stopped at a little touristy shop that sold souvenirs and kitsch. I fell in love with a small black bear toy, a Mama Bear with two little bear cubs, and my parents bought it for me. 😊

The service at Bogart's was excellent, as was the food. My traveling companion opted for the Veggie Burger and was pleased with the quality and preparation. I ordered their Fish Sandwich, expecting a single piece of fish on a round brioche roll, as most restaurants make them. Instead, they brought a long hoagie roll with two pieces of lightly-breaded and perfectly-cooked, delicious, flakey fish! Their French Fries were hand-cut to-order from fresh potatoes, not frozen, and were wonderful! The other side-dish I chose from the menu was Fried Okra, and it was also done perfectly! It was a delightful and impressive meal, and I sent accolades back to the kitchen staff via our server.

After placing my order with the waitress, I decided to visit the Ladies' Room, mostly to wash my hands before eating. And thus, this also became a #toiletthursday post, a crazy-fun thing conceived by @brittandjosie 😂

The rustic décor present in the dining area was also exhibited in the women's restroom. An old metal bucket had been repurposed into a planter. An old metal shelving unit on the left had been converted into a "baby changing station," which looked much nicer than the typical plastic shelves that drop-down from the wall in most restrooms. The walls were adorned with metal bells and an antique (or perhaps made to look that way?) serving tray. Beneath that was a rack with hooks for holding one's jacket and purse/handbag.

There was an amusing sign hanging over the toilet that featured a roll of toilet paper and the slogan, "Let's roll" on it. 😁

Also in keeping with the rustic theme was the unusual paint job on the wainscoting around the room, which was purposely & artfully done to look like it was painted decades ago and then peeled and flaked over the years. What a clever touch!

The sink was adorned with an old metal milk jug that had some dried branches in it and a vase of dried flowers for a splash of color. The mirror over the sink was framed in rich, dark wood to complement the accents of dark wood in other places.

The sign to the left of the sink was so fun to read, and printed with a fascinating variety of fonts. It featured the following list of "Bathroom Rules"

  • Wash your hands

  • Hang up your towel

  • Use soap

  • Be neat & tidy

  • Brush your teeth

  • Change toilet paper roll

  • Floss & flush

  • Put the seat down

With such excellent décor, food, and service, I highly recommend a stop by Bogart's for a meal if you find yourself in Waynesville, in the western North Carolina area!

 😊

I have never heard of Bogarts, but did spend every summer growing up in High Point, NC, where my maternal grandparents lived. I have very fond memories of those hot summer days.

Looks like a lovely place to go and have a meal. Thanks for sharing and have a lovely day! !LADY🤗💜

Bogart's food serving size being plentiful, delicious, fresh and hot gives them a 5/5 star rating! When restaurants take the time to creatively decorate their restrooms with a cool theme and then follow up by keeping the area clean they deserve extra stars for recognition.👌

You had me at fried okra (all-time favorite), the two pieces of lightly breaded fish (bonus if they were cod fish), and hand cut fries. Mmm! We have Bogart's restaurants in the St. Louis area too. Ours are known for their prize winning barbecue. 🥩👨‍🍳♨️🍖

Haha! I too felling love with those furry bear cubs sold at souvenir shops in the Great Smoky Mountains and had to have one whenever we vacationed there! My mom has pictures in those plastic, spiral bound photo albums of several GSM black bears from yesteryear. Tourists would literally stop on the side of the road, get out of their vehicles and snap photographs of bears. This was way before CB radios, bag phones and cellphones.🐻📷

Much love! @thekittygirl❤❤❤

"We have Bogart's restaurants in the St. Louis area too."

I don't think they're the same... this "Bogart's Restaurant and Tavern" appears to be a locally-established restaurant, sort of a "Mom & Pop" business, not part of a chain. Of course, perhaps the owners are brothers or cousins, and they're both using the name in different locations!

That's so cool that you had a GSM black bear toy as a child, too! 😁

Those two bear toys were looking cute. Those two bears took my attention although at first I didn't see them.
I hope you enjoyed the food very much.
And at last Bathroom rules are interesting because we generally don't see the rules written on bathroom walls.

Bogart's clearly sounds like a wonderful place to be. Even without the rating, one look at that beautiful decor using dark theme and the lighting already makes it absolutely perfect in my books. Thanks for sharing this with us @thekittygirl. It was a lovely tour.🌺💖 !luv

The restaurant looks lovely @thekittygirl. Bogart's. I've haven't encountered a Bogart's here. It is a franchise?
Some say that eucalyptus leaves in restroom are ideal, because it eats up odor, hehehe!
I hope you enjoyed you day, sis!
