Post High-atus | Weekend Fun With Friends At Moalboal
What's up, Hivers? After a month-long hiatus I'm finally back!
I took a much needed break from posting here on Hive after my last post was given the highest voted blogpost for the day in the blockchain. I'm still riding that high by the way. Thinking about my next post made me crash and I felt the burn out. I was also making several blogposts in a week before that. So I think it was time to take a break. A time to refresh and give a breather to the part of my brain that I use for writing.
A lot of things happened in the month that I wasn't posting. Most of it was covered by my wife @krystalogue in her personal blog though. So for this blog, I'll be sharing with you what transpired over the weekend. My high school friends and I went to the southern part of the island riding our motorbikes.
Our version of this 3 Idiots movie poster haha
When my wife and I were still dating, we mutually agreed that we should still make time to see our individual circle of friends. And as we got married we still kept that same arrangement as we think that it keeps our relationship healthy, mature, and not toxic. So when I told her about our planned trip to Moalboal, she gave the go ahead right away. It was not our first trip though, so she already knew what to expect and she is also excited about her alone time at home.
Last March my friends(Ran and Ivan) and I went to Malapascua, an island at the northern part of Cebu. This time we decided to go south. We wanted a place with a spacious shore where we can just place a picnic blanket and put our things along with our alcoholic beverages. Having been to Moalboal for several times already, I suggested that we should go there. It is also much closer to the city than Malapascua which means travel time is shorter.
SATURDAY
Our rendezvous point was the gasoline station near our house. It has the cheapest gasoline in the city, so we fueled up before going on our way. It wasn't my first long ride and I am very familiar with the southern terrain so I suggested that we should have a pit stop at Carcar City, approximately 37km from our meeting place. We started our trip at around 6am.
One of the reasons why I like the south, aside from the familiarity, is this: tree shaded roads
We arrived at McDonald's Carcar at around 7:40am. We had our breakfast and stayed there until around 8:45. After eating and a good amount of time for our motorcycles to cool down, we continued our journey. We bought roasted native chickens along the way for our planned lunch at the hotel.
Just a few kilometers away from Carcar is Barili. We stopped for a while and took pictures of the view. Including this groufie
An hour and a half and 50 kilometers later, we finally arrived at Moalboal.
We swung by their municipal hall to get our tourist's pass slips at Php25 per person. We arrived at the hotel, Pescador View, earlier than their check-in time but they allowed us to go to our room without an extra charge. We had our lunch and took a quick nap before going to the beach.
Pescador View and my motorcycle
Pescador View was 6km away from the famous White Beach in barangay Basdaku. Though our hotel was by the beach, it didn't have the shoreline that we were looking for. Good thing we have our own motorcycles because the trike fare is pricey.
We woke up from our nap at around 2pm, then went to Basdaku. The weather was a bit gloomy when we arrived. We started drinking, then swam when we felt like we were getting drunk. Sunset came and we were still drinking and swimming.
This 10 year old girl selling balut(duck eggs) approached us so we bought some of it. My friend Ran, the one holding the phone, was so impressed by the girl's interpersonal skills. Saying that if he was that confident back when he was younger he would have sold a lot of properties right now. He's a part time real estate agent.
Post wouldn't be complete without a photo of a dog
Then it started raining. We panicked and packed up our things because we had our gadgets with us. It was a bit of a bummer because we were already having so much fun.
We waited for the rain to stop, so we just had our dinner at one of the restaurants near the shore. The rain completely stopped at around 7pm so we tried going back to our spot but the wind was so cold that we just decided to go back to the hotel and just return the next day.
We planned to continue our drinking session at the hotel but tiredness from the long travel and our swimming session earlier caught up with us so we just slept. Haha
SUNDAY
We followed through with our plan of returning to the beach, but first coffee and breakfast at McDonald's(loyalists haha) at the town's center. We woke up a bit late so when we got back at the beach the sun was already up high. That didn't stop us from enjoying the beach though. Ivan brought a skimboard(the one used in the first photo), so we took turns in riding it. We drank and swam until noon time. We then returned to our hotel and anticipated to pay the penalty for not checking out on time. Good thing Ran charmed the staff and they let us check out without paying the penalty.
On our way home, I suggested that we stop by at Barili Milk Station. We had our late lunch there and I also bought some pasalubong for the lovely wife waiting at home.
Horses
Pokemon-like chicken
Going back to the city, we kind of expected the traffic flow to be heavier as compared to other way around. So I devised a system that if ever we get stuck in the traffic jam and can't keep track of each other, we must regroup at the next town where there is less traffic.
I took this photo while I was waiting for them at Minglanilla for us to regroup. That is Anjo's World's ferris wheel seen from across the road
I arrived home safely at around 6:40pm. It was a tiresome but worthy experience. And we are already looking forward to our next trip.

Moalboal is one of the places that I would like to visit. I hope I can visit in the near future. Magandang gabi kabayan.
Magandang gabi po! Moalboal is one of the best in the south. Aside from the beach, their town center has a lot to offer. My wife and I are considering buying a property there if an opportunity arises. I hope you can visit it soon!
Beautiful beach. And how I focused on the dog, It's so cute :)
Thank you. It is indeed a nice beach. There were also alot of dogs present but I just happen to take a photo of this particular dog because he was the one nearest to us.
Gimingaw na pd ko Moalboal! haaaai.
this is such a nice agreement! Other couples should do the same!
Lage. Nindot magpabuhat og rest house didto haha. Kwarta nalang kuwang.
The agreement worked for us, hope it would be the same for the others.
bitaw sa. Puhon2
I haven't been able to go back to south province since I had my baby but I can see some changes already. And this...
This wasn't a thing four years ago, and more people on the beach now ha.
I happened to try there fresh milk and I loved it and it's weird coz it didn't upset my stomach, might because its more digestible compared to prepacked milk.
Love the first photo! Who's idea was it? haha Looks like you guys had a weekend blast!
The tourist's pass slip was implemented just this year. To track and control tourists who enter Moalboal. It is their LGU's initiative for effective contact tracing.
The milk in Barili Milk Station is fresh, and I think there are no added chemicals that's why it's different from store bought milks.
The picture was sort of my idea haha. I guess I am the most creative in our group. Haha
I see! but it should be free its just a piece of paper!
I miss having it, though my neighbor friend, him and his family, they visited once in a while coz his brother in law owns the farm. Might ask him to bring me some fresh milk next time! =D
thumbs up!
