In India every month of the calendar year is filled with festivals, fasting or important events related to any religion. For example, in the last month we celebrate the festival of colours - Holi and also observed the month of purity and worshipping - Ramdan. So the last month was the month of sharing happiness, filling colours and worshipping in joy.

The Holi

Holi is an important festival in Indian sub continent because a lot of bordering nations celebrates this festival as well. The Holi is know for victory of truth or God over lies or evil. It has an interesting story as well. Holi comes on a specific day but its celebration period covers astleast a week where Holi is in the mid. People make sweets and share, put the colors on other, drink Thandai - An Indian Creation made up of milk and herbs. Its sweet in flavour and contains some amount of bhang(herb) as well which brightens up the mood.

I avoid colours as I have a sensitive skin towards artificial color so my major way of celebrating it is to eat the delicious food along with the thandai and songs. I used to play a lot but with the age I developed a little allergic situation with colors.

The Ramdan

A country which houses 200 millions of Muslim community people, Ramdan becomes a general festival of fasting and observing the prayers. As it is summer in India during March-April, living off the water is a little tough situation to deal with. Mosques, house are covered with decorative lights, people in kurtas and Pathanian style clothes, fills the vividity in a crowded market. By evening almost all the stuff available in market is finished. It's a peak business month for the snack makers, fruits shops and clothing outlets. Over all its a scenic month.

The coming month

Although we celebrated a lot in the month of March, the coming month of May is where major universities exam takes place. A young group of society is skimming through books along with celebrating the festivals. Balancing both the social and professional aspirations. Library is filled with students of different courses. I see many people reserving a part of their day in studies during the main day of festival. This shows the dedication towards their goal.

Conclusion

It was a great month, we got to eat many dishes and cuisines, tried several snacks, visited street market, met friends and family. A nation of 1.3 billion people when celebrates, it makes that no part of world remains untouched. And the festive season is still not over as again a big festival is on the way Navratri. Its never a off-festive month in India as there is always something interesting going in each month because of the presence of diverse cultures and religions.

This also becomes a hot spot for many business people as it gives an opportunity to stock out their products and any launch receives a decent attention during such months as purchase of any material thing during this month is considered lucky and auspicious.
