Pokemon Blue Venonat Starter - Part Eight

Another shot against Hive in a battle

This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types

After some hard leveling to bring his Pokemon up to a better standard that can do well against Hive this time, it was time to give the battle a second shot.

The Nidorina got a quick dose of being put to sleep from Jigglypuff before Dratini had to get a paralysis off, after it woke up so now the wrap was able to stop so much extra damage from taking out Dratini, good thing since it might be needed against another Pokemon a little later on. Jigglypuff hit level thrteen so the extra level would go well against future battles for leveling further.

Goliath's Squirtle was still not heaps effective or very strong at this moment, but the tail whip to lower defence was always a helpful move, especially when the Venonat would come in and reach level eighteen after doing a heap of tackles to weaken and then defeat the Eevee.

This was two Pokemon defeated with a good chance of winning this time, but he had to stay focused so he wouldn't make mistakes that could be costly!

Time for the Zubat to be weakened up a bit with a weaker Pokemon which the next possible choice, was the Shellder and weaken it a bit it did. It would have been weakened further had Zubat not been using leech life to gain some health back as well.

After Shellder had been defeated, Grimer was called out to smack that Zubat with pound a few times and ensure it didn't lose that much before the next Pokemon came out. Zubat fainted finally, Hive brought out his Growlithe to start using bite a lot.

Grimer's health was reduced down pretty low due to bite's strength but because it had been disabled for a turn or two, Grimer was able to get the better of it or so Goliath thought.. one final bite was enough to finish off Grimer and show how strong Growlithe can get.

Goliath knew it was time to win this battle for sure and the way it was done, was when he brought out his Venonat who had taken a vicious bite that chunked out a lot of health.

Tackle finished off the Growlithe though since it only had a tiny bit of health left. With this Growlithe defeated now, Goliath was successful in beating Hive and once they parted ways, he went and healed up because Nugget Bridge was going to be a lot of battles.

With a set of healed Pokemon fighting fit and ready to rumble it was up against the Nugget Bridge trainers, with the first being just a bug catcher having a level fourteen Weedle to fend off.

Jigglypuff got used and got poisoned right away, this didn't help too much since an antidote got used, and it wasn't even required of Jigglypuff to be putting it to sleep and defeating it for a bit of experience came with some good hits. Was only a Caterpie left to face next but Dratini had no issues at all, easy fight for the first on this bridges trainers.

Second trainer to face started with a Nidoran that hit well with poison sting to get a first turn poison off, Jigglypuff managed to put it to sleep before requiring Goliath to switch out to Venonat where the fight was easily managed.

After the Nidoran it was a Zubat for the second and final choice of this Lass. Tackle only took a few good hits to take it out, Goliath's Pokemon were getting much stronger but he felt like he might still need to do some more leveling for a bit, on the weaker ones at least.

Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
ROMS: Pokemon Blue after being put through the randomiser
Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)

Stay tuned to see how I go with leveling, what team I am using and my journey as I progress through Pokemon Blue.

Pokemon Stadium was a big thing and awesome to play. Always worth going back to enjoy!
But I grew up with Pokemon and loved it ever since before the games were released.
