Gardening with The Anarchist's: After Hours!
What's up my fellow Cannabis Lovers and Enthusiasts!? It's time to welcome you all back to another edition of:
Gardening with The Anarchist's: After Hours!
This week, I was blessed beyond words could describe! And I was very fortune to be able to have some extra spending cash this weekend! Well, I've been talking about it for a while, but I finally did it. I finally got some 5 gallon buckets and some good garden soil for transplanting our growing plants!
I love to shop locally, and while we were out for our weekend grocery run, we stopped by our local Rural King store and I finally purchased some buckets and I found the perfect soil for transplanting our little beauties into!
Fox Farm Happy Frog Potting Soil!
I first heard about Fox Farm from @derangedvisions in a comment they left on my Week 2 Update!
"As far as the soil and nutrients I use, I only use the Ocean Forest from Fox Farm and I use their line of nutrients as well." - @derangedvisions
And after doing some research on potting soils for cannabis, I did find that Fox Farms Happy Frog Potting Soil was on the list I found from an article on Weedmaps!
Once I read that Fox Farm was based out of Humboldt County, I knew that this was going to be the perfect substrate for our growing plants! I myself am originally from California, so I've grown up hearing about the famous Green Triangle that is Humboldt County, and I've always heard that the best cannabis in the world comes from that fabled Green Triangle!
So needless to say, once I saw a pallet of Fox Farm Ocean Forest Potting Soil right in front of the entrance, I knew I had to go searching to see what other Fox Farms products they had in stock!
After looking around the store for any type of potting soil I could find, to no avail, I finally found an associate to help us out! After a few quick questions, he told me they were actually outside, tucked around the corner! So outside we trudged, and lo and behold, there were actually two full pallets of Fox Farm Happy Frog Potting Soil!
They cost $20 per bag, so I bought 2 to start; hoping that it would be enough to fill the new 5 gallon buckets I bought for each plant! The buckets ended up costing about $20 in total, but $60 was a small price to pay to ensure these plants not only survived, but thrived under our care!
The Set-Up!
So, I knew I needed to get these buckets ready as soon as possible, because our growing beauties needed a transplant immediately! But, as it was too late to get started on Friday night after all of our running around, I got to work Saturday morning at preparing all of our tools and supplies we'd need for this monumental occasion!
First up, was gathering up the supplies I'd need, and then I could start adding holes at the bottom for drainage! I didn't know how big I needed the holes to be, or how many to add, so I found a few screws of various sizes. I also grabbed a tap to see how well that worked, and a sharpie to mark my holes! I planned on using the tap as a pilot hole, and use one of the others as the main drainage hole!
I had to quickly abandon the tap idea, because it required far too much pressure to start the hole! So I used the smallest screw as my pilot hole! It took a little while to do them all by hand, but it wasn't bad!
After that was done, I used a utility knife to clean up and taper off the holes a little, just to make it a little more aesthetically pleasing! The end result left the holes approximately one-quarter of an inch in size!
Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of this process, but I did successfully transplant Plant 1 immediately after washing out the new planter buckets!
I did take pictures of this process, but you'll have to tune in to the next Edition of "After Hours" for those!! 😉😁
Thanks for stopping by everyone! I hope you all have a great week, and don't forget to tune-in at the end of the week for our normally scheduled "After Hours" Update! Stay Trippy, My Little Hippies! ✌️💚

I sure hope so @canna-curate! I hope they start to do a lot better now that they will have some good soil to grow in!
I transplanted today also.. but Fox Farms isn't available here..
Awesome! How have they faired so far?
And that is unfortunate, but I'm sure there are other brands out there that are just as good if not better for growing!
I noticed in your "Hide n Seek" video you have them planted in the ground! If you don't mind me asking, did you use any specific potting soil when you transplanted?
I used a mix of peat moss and coco... added mykos then plant then soil.. I built a wall around them with soil to help build the water in for the first couple times
Nice! Peat moss and coco will definitely help retain water! And building up a wall with the soil is a great idea to help with that as well! I hope they do well! :)
You should try Fox Farm Ocean Forest next time. I think the Happy Frog is for the beginning stage like seedling and Veg. Good luck and happy growing.
Thank you for that advice @lacausa!
I will definitely be considering that idea, because I'm my newest update that I'll be posting shortly, I go in depth on my transplanting process, and actually talk about needing another bag of soil to fill the buckets the rest of the way!!
I truly appreciate your help and advice!🌱💚
