Hive Bugs: Is It Just Me?
It was always just a minor inconvenience that I was willing to work around... but it keeps happening, and it's getting worse! Is anyone else having buggy issues with Hive applications? It can't be just me. Right?
In any case, I do hope there's a solution.
Calling All Hive Devs!
It all started with my Favorites list, which I've never been able to see. Never... it was the one glitch in my experience that persisted. But I was able to create a "Check Daily" list that worked fine.
Now, neither of these lists will work!

Again, this is not the end of the world... but then it went a bit further: now my profile picture and other header graphics and info won't populate.

I've tried Hive.Blog too, with the same results... and I've tried changing nodes multiple times, settling on the "Switch Automatically" default at the moment. Nothing changed.
I also can't see the thumbnails for my cover image RIGHT NOW for this post, so I'm not sure which one will actually appear. Now that's a pain in the ass!
So I obviously can't help but notice these things-- and to worry that this degradation will continue, that my ability to participate in the #Hive ecosystem will be further curtailed.
Not cool.
And totally worth a cry for help-- or at least a quick chat to give my two cents on an issue that may be widespread or systemic. I should've mentioned it a long time ago.
So please do chime in if you're having similar problems, or if you are able to help on the development side. Our strength is the #community of people who want Hive to succeed!
Blockchain Evolution
Hive has gone through quite a few soft forks now, with small changes and upgrades happening each time... so I'm curious if these bugs I'm describing are some unnoticed effect. And I'm hopeful that they can be easily fixed during the next reiteration, if not before.
Or it could be just me. I'm not dismissing that possibility... and I haven't really done any troubleshooting at all. I thought I'd reach out first.

That transaction set your profile_image and cover_image to empty.
How do I do that?
I see that they are literally empty at the moment, but I can't seem to edit anything on that screen (probably for good reason).
I just noticed that all my profile details are gone too... what is going on? How did that happen?
Well, you have to recollect what were you doing on
2024-02-21 06:45:42 (UTC). My guess is that one of the three things happened:posting_json_metadata, it requires just posting key - any of the myriad of accounts you've allowed to sign in your name could do that (or someone those accounts allowed to sign in their name)The last possibility could be checked if we managed to decode public key from signature - it is possible, but I don't have the tool at hand at the moment.
Edit: ah, there is also possibility that you've leaked your private key :o)
Edit2: the key that signed it is the private key associated with

But I haven't been able to see my Favorites feed since day one... and my Check Daily list hasn't been accessible for weeks. So I'm still a bit perplexed about that. You don't have any issues like that?
I have neither Favorites nor Check Daily in Ecency Desktop that I'm using, so I guess it is something specific to the wallet/front end you are using.

I had the same issue the last 2 days, broken profile picture. Honestly, it happens all the time, every few weeks. Hive devs need to build image backup servers so that users are not inconvenienced like this if they want to be serious competitors in the social media space. You don't ever see this happen on big sites like Facebook or Twitter because they have automated fallback procedures in place.
Definitely. It seems pretty basic.
I wonder how many of the main devs are daily users who would notice these little chinks in the chain, so to speak.
