Fate was always on my side [Eng-Esp]
One fateful day I decided to leave home. My life changed forever.
What I thought was a dictatorship at home turned out to be a paradise. I complained for as long as I can remember about my siblings, about the few chores I had to do at home to collaborate, after all it is the duty of all family members to collaborate with the cleaning and chores, but I even complained about sharing the bedroom with my siblings and about the inherited clothes I received from my elders.
One day my father bought some chickens. The man had 2 jobs and needed more money to cover the expenses of a large family, so my mother gave us all chores. It was my turn to clean the chicken coop after school. I stood up and yelled at them that it wasn't fair.
My mother came over and with her hands wrinkled from water, she spent all day washing strangers' clothes so she could help with household expenses, she stroked my cheeks to wipe away my tears and told me we would have more money to buy a sweet treat on Sundays after mass.
I calmed down and spent the next few evenings of the month cleaning up chicken dirt with my brothers. At the end of the month we succeeded. We received the money from the eggs and chickens that dad sold and with the money we bought the candy but there was money left over and my mother asked us what we wanted to spend it on. I suggested that we buy cheese and we could have bread and cheese for breakfast and have that luxury.
My mother agreed and bought a loaf of cheese. But so that it would be enough for all of us for several days, she gave us a small piece each. I got up and banged on the table and swore to everyone that when I came of age I would leave the house.
I never knew how much I hurt my mother with that hateful phrase. Today those words weigh on me.
Time passed and my bitterness grew along with my body. I came of age and when I opened my eyes on my 18th birthday I packed up and left my house behind with all my oppressive parents, my nagging siblings and annoying duties and obligations.
I forged my destiny myself, it took me years to plan everything and it turned out to be backwards. It's not easy being on the street and on your own. Getting your groceries, paying the bills. It has cost me a lot.
In all the years I lived in the oppression of my parents I never went to bed without eating. Now I can hardly find a bed to sleep in.
Some time ago I met a fortune teller, she read my cards and told me that my life will be what I set out to achieve. Then I understood: everyone builds their own destiny and if we are not happy with what we get, we must go back to the beginning and plan all over again.
I will return to my origin, my mother always said that the only thing we have for sure in life is the family, surely they will welcome me back and I will be able to start again.
Hoy me pesan aquellas palabras.

@tere.alv There is always security in the family, you went home again and corrected, the bitter words of parents are for your benefit, a person should know how to live all kinds of days.
Welcome to The Ink Well, @tere.alv. We are glad you've joined us! Your story is very poignant and realistic. So many people at that age do not appreciate what they have.

This is a very bittersweet story, @tere.alv. It really made me sentimental, as I ran away from my own parents at about that age. It is only through the lens of time that I realized how much they loved me, and what a nice life I had! Beautifully done. Welcome to The Ink Well!
Oh. This is just like a written documentary of the child, the family and relationships. As children, we do not understand that a lot that happens in the family is setting stone. We also do not understand because we have security but it is always a different story from the streets. Now, we see from this protagonists point of view that what many term as prison might just be a safety net. Such realistic and educative story. Well done. I enjoyed it.
No matter where you go, remember the road that will lead you home. In life's struggles one will need the support of family at some point and the protagonist has come to that stage.
Your story tells of a young man's rebellion without just cause, but it was really necessary to go through that experience in order to savor and appreciate both the family and everything that comes into our hands. Keep writing stories as good as this one.

We must take life in our hands, the decision to leave home and return repentant and value life indicates that she reflected on the mistake she was making and the importance that united is easier than alone. A beautiful story of repentance and humility.
Reminds me of the story of the Prodigal son. I liked it! Thank you for sharing this piece to us.
A story to reflect on, it is not only in this case that human beings do not know how to appreciate what we have in abundance. It happens with many situations in life. Thank you for sharing.

Some children complain about inability of their parents to put things in order especially financially but when such a child wears the shoe, they turn back to give kudos to the parent. I witnessed this.
She went through the journey of adulting and learned! 😄
