MY INTRODUCTION TO HIVE
Hey there!
I am Temidayo (meaning “mine has turned to Joy” in my mother tongue). I am the last son but not the last child of a family of six – do the math! I’m in my early twenties and currently, I am a third-year student of the federal university of Agriculture, Abeokuta studying Mechatronics Engineering – my dream course.
I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to @starstrings01 for introducing me to this platform.
Now, without further ado, let’s move on to the main business.
SO, WHO IS TEMIDAYO?
Well, for starters, I am a man who tries his best to stay alive. Other than that, I have quite a number of stuffs I’m involved in.
Firstly, I am a tech enthusiast and I’ve always been fascinated by tech (especially robotics) and it is my love for robotics that led me to the course I’m currently studying – Mechatronics engineering. My interest in tech was sparked up by cartoons like Jimmy Neutron, Power rangers and many others that I watched while growing up.
For the sake of some of us that may be confused, Mechatronics Engineering is an interdisciplinary field of engineering that makes use of knowledge from other engineering fields to create better and more sustainable products. It is quite a wide ocean comprising different fields such as Control engineering, Servomechanism, Embedded Systems etc.
Asides from being a student, I am also into Data Science (majoring in Data Analytics) with the aim of being able to infuse both basic and industrial automation with insights generated from data summed up over a period of time.
During my free time, I like volunteering at events. I have volunteered for different kinds of events over the years. Events like ODS (Ogun digital summit), PAADC, etc. are some of the events I have volunteered for in time past.
I and some other co-volunteers at an event
I am also an ardent lover of nature, history and literature. Whenever I am not coding to automate a process, testing circuits or analyzing data, I love taking photos of nature (and any other thing that comes my way) with my phone camera. Reading books and writing about insights I could gain from them especially ones that depicts real history and works of art (or literature) are other things I do at my leisure. My love for learning new things prompted me into learning about languages – I’m currently learning French.
Why I joined Hive?
Just as I mentioned earlier, I got to know about the HIVE platform through @starstrings01. He explained in detail what the platform is all about and its modus operandi; and I was immediately captured by the fact that it is a decentralized network – the blockchain feature.
While exploring further, I met @monioluwa who highlighted some ways by which I can utilize my skills in a way that can help both I and the platform grow.
I would like to say a very big thank you to my mentor and friend @starstrings01 once again, for his unwavering guidance, patience and advice in facilitating my easy onboarding to the HIVE network. I celebrate grace!!!
Thanks for going through my post. In the meantime, I’ll try to explore the platform and make new friends.

Is that photo with the lighted-up ceiling your classroom for mechatronics? I like it. I think it's cool mechatronics is spreading. Are you interested in doing stuff with drones then?
I am interested in mechatronics as well but the level of competition here for that field of study and for those jobs is very high in the United States.
I would like to be able to see how IoT and mechatronics can be blended together to like clean up local waterways around where I live. We have very polluted waterways here in the United States in many places with large populations. My city has about 200,000 people living in it and we have two major, very polluted rivers that run through our city.
Ideally, I would like to make something like these floating mats that hold plants that soak up pollutants that are in waterways, even heavy metals! http://www.beemats.com/home.html and this video shows it better:
I would want to use IoT and mechatronics to allow the tracking of various types of data from the mats to show how effective they are at cleaning up water ways. I guess I'd have to talk to my local city jurisdiction to get this stuff approved though.

@eatthebugs wow, such a great proposition you have there! I'd love to work with drones,it is also one of plans for 2022. By the way, the photo you mentioned isn't a classroom, the building is for religious purposes; I snapped it when it was under construction. And concerning your idea, what preliminary steps have you taken towards it?
Welcome to Hive bro!! Make friends and make money!!
That combo is key! Thanks.
Awesome and welcome to Hive!! Really appreciating the leadership of @starstrings01 - LISTEN to his advice and you will thrive here!
Wishing you a smooth journey & sending lots of encouragement from Thailand.
@artemislives Thanks for the advice. I made @starstrings01 my ceremonial mentor already 😁
Welcome to this wonderful community and platform as well and I hope you do have a great time on #Hive

Hello @temibot! This is @ybanezkim26 from the @ocd (Original Content Decentralized) team. We saw that you already posted your first blog here in Hive! Congratulations and welcome!
It's also best to subscribe to other Communities you like and share your blogs there to have a wider range of audience. Or you can check out the Communities Incubation Program. If you are looking for tips and information as a Hive newbie, click here: Newbie guide. If you have questions, you can hop into Discord server and we'll gladly answer your questions.
Also, letting you know since the content on the Hive platform is monetized, using other people’s ideas or images could be considered as an offense and which is also viewed in a serious light on the blockchain. Here is a useful collection of resources about how plagiarism and abuse are viewed and handled on Hive.
Thank you @lovesniper, this will come in handy because I have been trying to check through communities to join manually. This is a better route.
