Found money
Are you the type of person who picks up money they find in the street? Or do you simply step past it or not notice it there at all, because you are looking at the shops rather than the pavement?
It's actually possible to pick up quite a bit, if you are so inclined. Here's where to look (but do so subtly!):
pavements - for some reason if people drop pennies (due to their purse bursting open or pulling cash out of pocket too fast), they feel it's not worth their trouble to pick up their own money (as though it's some sort of social disease). So they just leave it. If you see coins, pick them up and put them in a jar. You'll be surprised how quickly it all adds up.
the floor by shop counters
bus stops
by the bar in pubs
petrol station forecouts
ticket machines at train stations
in phone boxes
chocolate and crisp vending machines
in the change tray at again unattended parking ticket machines
in the coin tray of unattended fruit machines/arcade games
Obviously these are all coins and very small change that people have left or simply dropped, and you are doing a public service by picking it up and clearing the streets of it, so to speak.
But if you find a wallet with a name and address, be a good citizen and hand it in, to the police or shop where you found it - it's one thing to drop a five pence coin and not be bothered by it, but losing a purse with cards and money is a whole different (and very upsetting) thing.
