WEEK #219: The Good and Bad Thing About Social Media!

Hello, everyone; today is another day to participate in another writing prompt initiated by @galenkp for week #219. So, I have decided to answer the question:

Social media, good or bad? Explain in each case. Use your photos.

We depend on smartphones for work, school, and personal and social lives.
I also witnessed my nieces and nephews spend time browsing social media.

When was the last time you left home without your phone and kept on going?

These days, the internet plays a significant role in our everyday lives. Social media has also done so. It affects not just today's teenagers but also most people worldwide who do not have age restrictions.

Is social media a good or bad thing?

Everything always has two sides to it; it just depends on your viewpoint. Similarly, most view social media as a revolutionary invention, but some perceive it as harming society.

These, in my opinion, are social media's benefits to both myself and other people:

I can easily communicate with my family and friends through social media. I can easily get updated and share details about our lives and happenings with them. Through this communication, we can maintain our relationships, especially with relatives and friends who live far away.

I also started and tried small businesses online, and social media is great for marketing my products. My business strategies have been developed for social media platforms, and promoting brands or products was easy.

I can voice my opinions and share many subjects with people. Social media's sharing feature enables me to express my thoughts to a large audience on any topic. I can easily access people with similar interests who can share their ideas and perspectives about the issue or topic.

I can also use social media that provides us with more connectivity and convenience in my life through:
-rapid research and information access
-Bill payment and banking
-online education, career training, and YouTube content discovery

And these are the negative consequences of social media:

Because of social media, I forget important tasks and priorities, significantly negatively impacting my work productivity. I also find myself more interested in what my friends and others post on social media than in the tasks at hand; social media can easily distract me from my work.

I have witnessed many people who feel compelled to use social media because it has become a vital part of their daily lives; posting content on their pages and reading what others have posted all day makes them happy. These also lead us to ruining other's privacy and so with ourselves.

Too much use of media excessively has harmed interpersonal relationships. Face-to-face interactions and communication have decreased. Because we spend more time on social media than with our loved ones, it also ruins our relationships with friends and loved ones because it isolates us from the people around us.

I have spoken about a few of the good and bad things about social media; it depends on how we manage ourselves in dealing with and using the world of social media; make sure to use it right.
