The real story here is mentioned numerous times. In the absence of "organizations", including government, there wasn't a "Purge". Hollywood and the swarm would have us believe that without involuntary leadership, we are simply animals that would prey upon each other. The reality is, of course, exactly the opposite. People brought supplies on their own. Neighbors helped each other. Everyone checked in on the orphanage. People waited in line peacefully to get supplies donated voluntarily by those concerned for their welfare. I didn't see a gun. I didn't see a spiked bat. I didn't see anyone looking like a cast member from Mad Max.

It's unfortunate that disasters are what it takes to show that people are far more apt to do good rather than to do evil. I've lived through many hurricanes (including Katrina) and while there was looting, there wasn't any violence. People would randomly share their booty with me and other bystanders. People share their generators, allowing people to charge phones, flashlights and other portable items, who don't have access to their own power supply.

It truly is a wonderful world, if we are left to our own free will.
