Wednesday Walk Drought showing at the pond

Wednesday Walk Drought showing at the pond

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

The last couple of weeks when I was deciding what to share for the Wednesday Walk post I had bene out for many walks and had plenty to choose from, this week was the opposite I only got out for one walk in the last week or so so it was easy to choose which walk to focus on LOL

I took a visit to Buttonwood Park one afternoon and took my big lens hoping there may be a nice selection of birds on the pond

As this first photo shows the water level in the pond is very low, where I am standing taking this photo would normally be inthe pond, this area is goign through a drought, we have had very little rain and the pond level highlights that fact.
Its also not good for the birds, the low water level and possibly murky water is not inviting to birds and there was only a few seagulls, geese, ducks and one heron that I saw.

Often when I go out with my big 200-600 lens which is fairly heavy I only take that lens, but for some reason when I went out for this walk I also took one smaller lens my Tamron 28-75mm Lens so I could get a few shots showing how love the water level is such as this first one

Looking across the pond there are still some touches of the reds of fall colors remaining but there few are far between

Another shot of the low water level, this one ht eother side of the pond from the first one

and for those who have followed me a while will know whenever I visit this spot I always get some shots of this little island in the middle of the pond

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.

Hello Mr. @tattoodjay
I'm glad you had a lot of material to post about your walks, it's been great for this week when you've only walked one day

How are you dear friend @tattoodjay good morning
What a pity it hasn't rained enough and you are going through a drought, it is certainly not good for the birds
What beautiful photographs

I love to see birds in their natural environments, in this case on the water in the lake. What a beauty! Thank you so much!😃

Oh wow, that is quite low! I know that we didn't get nearly as much rain this summer as we usually do. The great lakes have been handling it okay I think, but I would imagine some of the smaller bodies of water are feeling the effects like this one.

Yeah, I think we were there at one point too. I know they had some pretty severe burning bans in place and they were fighting wildfires across the state. We even had a couple farm fields burn around the corner from us after a tractor that was plowing hit a rock in the field and created a spark.

Although the scenery is beautiful and I enjoyed your photos as always, it is sad about the low water levels. Many people tend to take water for granted... But water is precious and we often don't realize that until we have a shortage of water.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

That is a real shame and a worry about the water level.
Droughts are not fun, I just knew of course there would be seagulls there though, but nice to see a heron.

What a funky wee island!
I hope you get out for more walks this week!

Absolutely beautiful pictures from the pond, from the comments, am definitely glad the water levels have since improved. The birds will definitely thrive with more water. Thank you for sharing and keep enjoying your week :}
