some fall colors
Some fall colors
Good morning, have a great day
Autumn/Fall has well and truly past on by here even though according to the astronomical seasons its still fall till the 21st of December, the colors have definitely gone here, especially after a recent storm we had with torrential rain and gale force winds. but I did save some fall photos for later in the year and perhaps through winter when we get sick of ( well I do ) the dull grey or white days
Starting with this shot from a small bridge in the Acushnet Sawmill

Now since i mentioned it you may bewondering what the difference is between meteorological and astronomical fall. The difference comes down to the weather based on temperature cycles (meteorological) and the natural rotation of the Earth (astronomical).
Meteorology is the science pertaining to the processes and phenomena of the atmosphere, especially as a means of weather forecasting.
Astronomy is the study of objects and matter outside the Earth's atmosphere in relation to their physical and chemical properties.
Both meteorological and astronomical seasons (Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall) represent Earth’s seasonal temperature cycle but in different ways.
-Meteorological Seasons
- Based on Seasonal cycles of Temperature
- Used for record keeping
- Consistent start and end dates
Astronomical Seasons
- Based on the Earths Rotation
- Traditional seasons and not used for record keeping
- inconsistent start and end dates*
And as I said earlier according to the Astronomical Seasons its not winter till the 21st, but according to Meteorological Seasons we are in winter
and with the below zero temps we have had some days I tend to think it is winter and for me the time I do not get out much for photo walks
This next shot is on a walk in Buttonwood Park here in New Bedford

and still in Buttonwood Park, mostly i have shared shots around the pond in the park, but it is so much more than that quite a large park with lots of green areas

And still in Buttonwood Park, I do love the Autumn colors but also feel it is mother nature teasing us before the cold grey and white days of winter come upon us

Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
I'm still quite partial to red leaves on trees, but the past couple of falls I have really started to appreciate the yellows. Some trees they almost turn a chartuce when they are at peak color and it is amazing. Your second photo reminds me of that.
I learned two new terminologies from your blog and those terminologies are meteorological and astronomical seasons. The first shot from bridge is holding all the colors of fall. Even the shots from Buttonwood park and Bedford park are also beautiful.
Thanks kindly your support is appreciated
Have a great day
I loved your post, not only do you have really beautiful autumn photographs, you also share excellent information about astronomy. I really appreciate this information.

Incredible pictures 😻
WOW very vibrant colors, here where I live we have warm and rainy days all year round, on the one hand it's nice because I'm not really used to the cold, although I prefer cold than hot and humid, but on the other hand we miss the different colors that nature gives us when the seasons change, like those autumn trees you have in the pictures ✌🏻

I really appreciate your photography skill and the way you have captured different colors of leafs due to the changing of climate and seasons
Those colors are incredible. Thanks for capturing them for the blockchain.
That is what I miss about living in the northeast, the beautiful fall colors!
The natural beauty is extraordinary, I like the water flow which is close to the green plants.
That's very beautiful. There is no monochrome like in winter.
Wow, I love the colors. Autumn just shows us how lovely the earth can be. Nice shots btw. 😍
Your post is why I love autumn best of all ... so lovely!
Where I live, meteorological autumn did not even start until Nov. 15, and winter generally does not start until January 15 ... the temperatures still refuse to low enough to kick off winter patterns, and some years, winter simply never comes because after January, the days are too long again!
