Love Of Art And Pain In Ink (ENG/ESP)
Hello friends, today I will share my experience with the art of tattoos and how I got there.
Hola amigos hoy les compartiré mi experiencia con el arte de los tatuajes y como llegue hasta él.
From a very young age art has caught my attention, starting with graffiti, specifically in the city of Caracas where this style of protest art was at its peak in my country, together with my cousin we organized a Crew (group of young graffiti artists) where later other colleagues would join, between graffiti and hip hip, my passion for all kinds of art grew, from murals, sculptures and epic paintings.
We painted in various parts of the city of Caracas, Venezuela. It was an adrenaline rush because I had to take care of you from the police since you were treated like a bleat for expressing your art, it was a move punished by justice and it was not appreciated by the people who really know about the development and the work that goes into putting together a piece on a wall.
Desde muy chico me ha llamada la atención el arte, comenzando con el Grafiti, específicamente en la ciudad de caracas donde este estilo de arte protesta estaba en su auge en mi país, junto con mi primo organizamos un Crew (grupo de jóvenes grafiteros) donde después se integrarían otros compañeros, entre grafitis y hip hip, fue creciendo mi pasión por todo tipo de arte, desde murales, esculturas y pinturas épicas.
Pintamos en varias partes de la ciudad de caracas, Venezuela. Era una adrenalina porque tenía que cuidarte de la policía ya que eras tratado como balando por expresar tu arte, era una movida penada por la justica y no era aprecia por las personas que en verdad saben sobre el desarrollo y el trabajo que conlleva para armar una pieza en una pared.
My cousin, who is much more talented than me, develops the ability to tattoo, and immersed himself in that world. From a very young age, I wanted to capture every experience of my life on my skin and thus become a living canvas. Many people think strange and to others you seem artistic like me. My parents refused to paint my skin, they would have to wait until I was of legal age to do it, and that time served for my cousin's technique to develop and adjust his skill with the machine and thus be at a point where he tattoos at a great level.
Turning my 20 years, I made the decision to go to the studio, and start with the first tattoo on the inner forearm, which I made 'the lighthouse of the two crosses' which is where you place your faith so that it will light your way in the dark, around the lighthouse some visual ornaments like those in the Sedlec Ossuary. After 5 hours of intense pain, I finished my first tattoo of what would eventually become a full sleeve on my left arm.
Mi primo con mucho más talento que yo, desarrolla la habilidad de tatuar, y se sumergió en ese mundo, yo desde muy joven me quería plasmar en la piel cada experiencia de mi vida y así convertirme en un lienzo viviente, a muchas personas les parece extraño y a otras les pareces artístico como a mí. Mis padres negados con que me pintara la piel, tendrían que esperar hasta que fuera mayor de edad para poder hacerlo, y ese tiempo sirvió para que la técnica mi primo fuera desarrollándose y ajustando su habilidad con la máquina y así estar en un punto donde tatúa a gran nivel.
Cumpliendo mis 20 años tome la decisión de ir al estudio, y comenzar con el primer tatuaje en el antebrazo interno, el cual me hice ‘el faro de las dos cruces’ el cual es donde tu depositas tu fe para que te alumbre tu camino en la oscuridad, alrededor del faro unos ornamentos visuales como los que están en el Osario de Sedlec. Tras 5 horas de dolor intenso, terminaba mi primer tatuaje de lo que al final vendrían siendo una manga entera en mi brazo izquierdo.
A couple of months later, I would go back to the studio this time to tattoo Leonidas from the mythical Greek story of Thermopylae or better known as 300, this warrior was made on the back of my forearm, Leonidas counts on my eyes because I feel a Spartan warrior for the inexhaustible struggle in my life, it will sound a bit cliché but this is how I have seen it, and as I said before I want to be a living canvas and that my tattoos speak of who I am.
Un par de meses después, volvería al estudio esta vez para tatuarme a leonidas de la mítica historia de griega de Termorpilas o mejor conocida como 300, este guerrero fue echo en la parte posterior de mi antebrazo, Leónidas cuenta con mis ojos porque me siento un guerrero espartano por la lucha inagotable en mi vida, sonara un poco cliché pero de esta manera lo he visto, y como dije antes quiero ser un lienzo viviente y que mis tatuajes hablan de quien soy.
Four months passed and I would return to the studio this time for an even bigger piece, I would make a piece about Jesus Christ, without a doubt one of my favorites, why do I do Jesus Christ? I do not consider myself a Catholic, I think I have an extract of all the world's religions, but I make this piece because the story of Jesus is the best story of love and courage ever told, who dies for another person today? No one on staff and he did it for everyone without playing, this piece was about 7 hours of intense pain where we had to take several breaks because there was exhaustion. I also added a paragraph on my inner biceps, where it expresses how I see the bible and my definition of it.
Pasaban 4 meses y volvería al estudio esta vez por una pieza mas grande aun, me elaboraría una pieza sobre Jesucristo, sin duda uno de mis favoritos, porque hago a Jesucristo? No me considero católico, creo que tengo un extracto de todas las religiones del mundo, pero me hago esta pieza porque la historia de Jesús, es la mejor historia de amor y valentía jamás contada, quien muere por otra persona hoy en dia? Nadie en por personal y él lo hizo por todos sin jugar, esta pieza fueron alrededor de 7 horas de dolor intenso donde tuvimos que hacer varias pausas porque había agotamiento. También se le agrego un párrafo en mi bíceps interno, en donde expresa como veo la biblia y mi definición sobre ella.
My arm was already full, it needs one more session to adjust details, but not before getting 5 smaller tattoos, marks of things that were happening to me and that are leaving a mark on my skin as well as the pain caused in all these hours of work . Tattoos turned into art is beautiful, like appreciating an epic painting or sculpture, here applies a saying that I heard a couple of years ago that says 'I don't change the landscapes, I change the way I look at them' until a sunset is art, appreciate it.
Ya mi brazo estaba lleno, le falta una sesión más para ajustar detalles, no sin antes hacerme 5 tataujes más pequeños, marcas de cosas que me fueron pasando y que están dejando huella en mi piel así como el dolor causado en todas estas horas de trabajo. Los tatuajes convertidos en arte es hermoso, como apreciar una pintura o una escultura épica, aquí aplica un refrán que escuche hace un par de años atrás que dice ‘No cambio los paisajes, si no la manera en que los miro’ hasta un atardecer es arte, aprécialo.

7 hours is a long time! The man could endure and you could work continuously, that deserves praise. It is rare that I stick to a painting for more than 5 hours continuously. It is rare.
