Oranienbaum. Monument to the writer Nikolai Shchedrunov
We came to this lovely monument in one of the streets of the small town Oranienbaum by chance. My friends and I went for a walk in the park on our day off, and after the walk, quite physically tired and overwhelmed with visual impressions, we slowly walked to the station.
And then, after another turn, an unusual silhouette on the opposite side of the street caught our attention. I must say that we were so tired that we almost got lazy and walked right past it. We looked at each other in doubt-but made up our minds and headed for the nearest crosswalk.
We didn't regret that we dared to force our tired legs to walk those extra 200 meters. The monument we approached turned out to be unusually cute and cozy.
A middle-aged man in a long coat was sitting on a granite bench with a notebook in his hands, a copper crow was perched beside him, comfortably perched on a volume of prose, and below, under the bench, a flock of sparrows was bathing in a milky puddle.
The writer Nikolai Shadrunov is not as famous as Leo Tolstoy or Fyodor Dostoyevsky. This is if we talk about world fame - but in the writer's favorite city, Oranienbaum, few have not heard his name. The main cycle of Nikolai Shadrunov's works is devoted to Oranienbaum. The writer created stories and novels about the inhabitants of the city, such different people with such different fates.

And is there a relation between Nikolai Shadrunov and the birds? Maybe he was a birdlover?
Thank you! The red crow is a symbol. I'm having trouble translating here:) Is there an expression "white crow" in your language that means "different from everyone else"? The red crow is a further development of such an expression, meaning at the same time special, oddball, wonderful.
This was a nice piece of art - and very, very cute crow! ❤️
Thank you very much!
