PROVIDENCE

The story that I would be sharing was told to me by my aunt sometime back. I hope you find it worth your time.

Earlier that day, at the hospital, while she, my aunt, was on her way out after just finishing her rherapy session, she met this woman who sometimes visited the hospital just to greet them.

Her face was moody, so she asked the guy, her friend, who was wheeling her around the hospital grounds to stop.

She, my aunt, asked the woman what went wrong and the woman began shedding tears before telling her that her daughter was sick and needed some cash to get her malaria drugs but that wasn't her problem, her problem was this ....

'She slept in the church, washed the sanctuary every day, prayed like mountains will fall, her faith can move mountains so she believes but each day, things kept foing from bad to worse. Some days, there was no food, and then, at that moment, she lacked even the least amount to get drugs for her sick child. She had just come to the hospital to plead if they would give her the medication on credit. But, why is it that good people suffer a lot. Look at me and you. You're sitting in a wheelchair and will be having an operation soon. Me, I keep struggling, and it always amounts to nothing."

My aunt said that she just listened to her with a smile across her face.
"Have you lost hope that things could go well?" She had asked the woman.

"Never! My faith is unshaken. I know things would get better, as far as there's life. Help will come," the woman had said.

"My dear sister, both good and bad people suffer, I want you to have that at the back of your mind. I like your faith and resolve, and I hope you never give up hope. Stay positive. I believe that your faith and hope that help will find you is what made us cross paths today. Most times, our battery runs out in the middle of the dark tunnel, but we keep heading straight till we see the light, and we must see the light. Our faith makes providence available for us also. Please, come with me.

Signaling her guy-friend who had been standing there all along, silent, they moved to her ward in the hospital. My aunt grabbed her bag, got out the sum of five thousand naira, and gave it to the woman.

"Take this money, pay your daughter drugs, and also get something to eat. Also, I'll bring two mosquito nets to you before you leave the hospital. Your faith made me available. Hold on to it. You have cash for drugs and food. Tomorrow, will come and go, and you won't sleep with an empty stomach. Life goes on.

The woman was so happy that she was almost dancing jubilantly as she left the ward.
