If Only We Can Go Back In Time.
# Hello Community π₯°π
What a topic we have here to commence this awesome week. An amazing but a topic that brings back memories leading to reflections. Government sectors of the years that are passed and the now government being compered to the private sectors.
When ever these kinds of debate where government and private establishments are compared, the first thing that comes to my mind is the government educational sectors, hospitals and electricity which are the most basics necessities that citizens of a country should enjoy if a country is functioning very well. Its most certain that government owned sectors cost π² less in all areas of services, if not even almost free.
This very topic brought back memories of my early school years where many of the youths then enjoyed free education in government schools π«. Then it was a pure π― free education for all where no body will ask you for school fees and every materials needed by each pupil or student are supplied free of charge from the government. These were the days we have functional governance leadership.
And I can say then we have just few private schools or none ever known to me. Then only the so called rich takes their children to private schools π« because of how they believed the government schools are not up to par but it was a lie then because government schools teachers are all from TTC (Teachers Training Colleges) who are even better than the private schools teachers then
But as times continued passing, bad government and governance turned every government schools into a play ground where teachers became traders in the school environment because the government started owing teachers salaries for 3 -6 months accumulated. And hospitals a place for fear and anxiety as patients were treated with hash behaviors. This indeed gave way to private schools to take charge charging expensive fees from parents because the government failed us.
In the year 2002, my little daughter then had a domestic accident of hot water burn π₯. When we got to the General Hospital, Ikeja Lagos, now the Lagos State Teaching Hospital (LSTH), we received an express emergency admission in the children ward without any payment. We were just registered and taken to the burnt π₯΅ unit ward. And for the four (4) months we stayed in the hospital, doctors were coming every day for rounds, nurses were there every morning to birth and clean children wounds properly, disinfecting surroundings. Not any longer. The private hospitals has taken over because the bad government leadership has failed the masses . Only those that can afford the private hospitals are the ones getting good services because the have the means called money π°.
I canβt describe how good electricity (power) was then while we were growing up. We literally usually pay nothing because power supply was in the hands of the government. And constant power supply was never interrupted because power sector was being managed very well and not by corrupt people who came after years and decided to be stealing from the masses or they will bring down the wires from the pole when they are challenged.
In honesty, we can never in any way compare the government sectors with the private sectors if not for how time changed everything. The recent government sectors services have ruined every establishment by the government from lack of better management to nonchalant attitudes of the workers both in the health care and schools . The reason being how no one is taking responsibilities unlike in the private sectors where the owners know that business is money π° and they the private sectors are there to give out there π― services once you have your money. How about those who can not afford the private sector services? They still go back to the government despite all bad treatments they are getting because they have no money. This is where the choice comes into play.
Preference here comes with what my pocket holds at a given time that I needed services of either the government sector or the private sector. I will rather visit the private sector if I can afford their services because of how prompt they are in service rendering, especially in the cases of serious emergencies, not minding their reap offs than the government sector where they will waste all your time and cause you more pain . I can tell you that the government sectors in my country has deteriorated so badly. I wondered what the poor will do in cases of health emergencies.
