HiveBloPoMo | Are You Giving Up HIVE for Thanksgiving?

Well folks, Thanksgiving is right down the street and it's one of the biggest holidays of the year. Families join together for a feast & fun, But WAIT!! Whose preparing the feast?

If you're that person preparing 'Thankgiving' dinner, you may be thinking " I have to take a day or two away from hive so I have enough time to prepare for 'Thanksgiving.

Well, here's what I do so that everything ccan be ready on time without me spending the day in the kitchen. Firstly, prepare anything ahead of time that you can.

Like right now as I'm doing this post my fresh yams are in the oven and my sweet potatoes are boiling for the 'Sweet Potatoe Pie'. The pies wil be ready later today & since I took the turkey out the freezer this morning, I'll put those pies in the freezer & pull them out as needed.

When thanksgiving arrives I like for there to be nothing to do. Even my turkey will already be in the oven cooking so it can be done long before dinner time, which is usually a little earlier on thanksgiving. I not expecting anyone this year, as for visiting is what I have done for about the last 5-6 years. I still always cook a meal for home.

Anyways, you have three days before Thanksgiving to prepare & cook for the feast. Use those days to your advantage, anything that can be prepared, do so, you'll thank yourself later.

My menu includes turkey stuffing, mac & cheese, corn, yams, greens, cornbread, & sweet potatoe pie.

I have too much to do on hive & I'm not taking a day off so I cook ahead, I would do that even if I wasn't on hive. My dinners are usually so big that it's impossible for one person to prepare it in one day. Nowadays they're smaller but I still like to get started early.

Today the sweet potatoe pies & yams.
Monday the greens & mac & cheese
Tuesday the corn & cornbread
Wednesday prepare the stuffing for the bird which will go in the oven late wednesday night.

What are your tips for getting it all done?

Will you take off from hive for the holiday?

If you're cooking, what's on your menu?

Thanks for reading, caring & sharing!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

I'll have a mini-holiday from Hive. I'll get on, but probably just a short time in the morning.

Yes, I'll be cooking, but I'll have help, too. My main goal is to spend the time with my family. Since we moved away from our children, it will be precious time. We arrived "home" last night and will be returning Saturday, however, the children do have their lives, including work (one is a live-in care-giver, so we won't see her until Wednesday night), so time is limited until Thanksgiving.

Until Thanksgiving, we have all sorts of plans with other friends we've missed.

We return home Saturday morning.

Sounds like a plan. It's important to spend time with family & friends too

I don't have any plans this year so I'll be on & off here unless something comes up.

Enjoy Yourself!!

At the very least I'll post a buzz on D.Buzz. Maybe a photo on Liketu. Something simple and not overly complex or wordy.
