Grow Tent Question...

So I'm looking into doing a DIY grow tent indoors... What's the scoop on that? What should I look to acquire, I'm rather broke and am trying to find a way to do this as inexpensive as possible.

Thanks for the input beforehand.

I like to use a 4x4 tent.. being four feet wide by four feet wide.

I use AC infinity but I hear VIVOSUN is good too.

If I were to make it myself what do you think I should acquire? I'm going to look into it. I just need a single plant set up. I don't currently have room for multiple plants until I perfect the technique.

If you can get your hands on mylar you can cover a closet with it and grow in there.

Like reflective fire proof blankets? I'll google it.

It's probably counter-intuitive, but glossy white reflects best. better than any metallic surface.

No fire proof material is something different. It's like the space blanket material.

Yeah look it up. It's a little more reflective than aluminum foil.

Right now I'm attemptiing to germinate some seeds. I really wanted to get some random seeds to try and perfect the grow.

Can’t go wrong with Amazon. And mars hydro makes great lights that are cheap.

Money is tight and I can scavenge materials to build things.

Lots of great suggestions here. Just make sure whatever you do make sure to have adequate airflow, ventilation, and if not growing an auto, have the ability to make your space have uninterrupted darkness for 12 hours while in flower.

My biggest suggestion is to post all your stuff here in our community, with good written detail, and pics. That way you can earn enough eventually to buy a decent light. Which is the biggest expense to grow good herb indoors. I used my earnings to buy a 600$ bar style LED back in the day when I grew. It can be done:)

I already have the lights. I'm an electrician by trade. Just a single parent so money is kinda tight and growing isn't in the budget until it gets profitable. I do however appreciate the input. It's all welcome. The more disposable income I have the more I can invest into it.

Right on! You know my first indoor grow ever was in my hallway closet. I just kept the door cracked to allow air flow. It was already painted white, so basically it was a plug and play type of situation. I can’t believe I did not think of that at first. It’s been so long I suppose. But good luck on your grow journey, I hope to see you around more 💪

Fucking genius. I will build a little grow space out of some scraps I used to make a bed frame for myself. Do you have any suggestions on minimal dimensions? I don't want to damage the plant, mold, etc. I ordered some seeds and had them delivered the other day. I'll post about them later today.

I would do something small. 2.5x 2.5 feet -3x3 feet that way you don’t have to worry about more light. But really it’s up to you. And also a matter if you have enough lighting to cover a large canopy.

Whats your best germination technique?

Wet paper towel in a zip lock baggie, or place it on a plate, and cover the top with another plate. Make sure to keep it warm, and dark. Once you see the tap root, place into soil

The latest craze is to grow in an old fridge.

  • very cheap or for free
  • very easy to clean
  • well sealed
  • white inside (best reflection)
  • the elements in the back - even if not powered - will make everything condensate at the back, so the plants are less prone to mould
  • eco friendly, since you are recycling something.

Depending on what you want to achieve, I think an old (broken) fridge can be a good solution.

All that being said, I will always suggest to grow outside, under the sun. The sun doesn't cost a thing.

I thought about that a few years back!
I've also seen 'PC case' grows

I'll 2nd the outdoor grow vote, just did my first, great experience!

I forgot to mention, that a fridge could be less suspicious.
A tent that's humming (ventilation) is pretty obvious, but a fridge humming is normal.

It's legal to grow here. So I'm trying to do so.

It just got legalized here, too.
I still want to be discrete about it.

Kitchen foil should be a good substitute for mylar, otherwise white paint
It might be better to think 'grow room' rather than 'grow tent'
Air flow is probably the most important thing

Understood. In and out? Is there something I should avoid?

Not just in and out but through too, a gentle breeze helps with a lot of things

My first grow tent was just a closet with aluminum foil on the walls and a 600w MH/HPS setup.
