Chelsea News - Malo Gusto happy on his first call up for France and James Chelsea Competition

Didier Deschamps, the head coach of France and a former member of the Blues, chose Gusto to fill in for the injured Jules Kounde. Malo Gusto has spoken on his first call-up to the French senior team as well as a number of other topics related to his bright beginnings at Chelsea. Since the European Championships this summer, the right-back has started both of France Under-21's games, and Deschamps has taken notice of his performance for Chelsea. Deschamps noted that Gusto is a young player who has already established himself at Chelsea. He has potential, which suggests that he will advance in the next months.

When Gusto learned the news on Monday, he was in route from London to Paris. I was a little taken aback because I was getting ready to represent Les Espoirs [France's Under-21 team] as usual when I got a message on the train saying that I was moving up," Gusto clarified. It's a wonderful honour and fantastic news for me. They were incredibly pleased of me and gave me motivation to keep going. I want to leave a lasting impression on everyone now that I'm here. Gusto has left a lasting impression in his brief time at Stamford Bridge, despite the awful red card he suffered in the loss to Aston Villa. Since he arrived, the 20-year-old's ability to interact, overlap, and cross has stood out.

Gusto responded when questioned about teammate right-back Reece, "He is an extremely decent person. Really healthy rivalry exists among us. He tries to help me, and I do my best to help him. We exchange a lot of advise. He is well aware of the fact that on the pitch it is war. We don't always do one another any favours. The best will be playing. Mauricio Pochettino will once more have to make the choice now that Gusto's three-match suspension is over and James is anticipated to be eligible following the international break. Gusto notes the 'culture of work and dedication' the Argentinean has already enacted at Cobham and claims that Pochettino is someone from whom all the players are 'learning a lot off'.

The former Lyon player is also picking up tips from his teammates. Gusto chose another player who made the switch from Ligue 1 to the Premier League, albeit at a completely different point of his career, when asked who in particular had stood out. Gusto exclaimed, "Thiago Silva is one of the best defenders in the world. He is constantly in great shape, totally committed to what he is doing, and incredibly professional. I find it wonderful and very inspirational to see how he always gives it his all. With France currently playing the Netherlands on Friday, Gusto will be eager to make his senior debut. Axel Disasi, a countryman of Gusto, has been forced to leave the team due to an injury.
