STEMng Digest: Same rule, different interpretations
Things would have been utopian, but injustice reigns supreme with people at the helm of affairs using different interpretations for the same rules, depending on who the culprit is. It appears some people have been touted to be above any law that is made.
Welcome to a new edition of STEMng Digest.
Who are we?
STEMng is the Nigerian sub-community of the stemsocial community, a community that has been supporting stem authors on the hive blockchain for about four years now. While stemsocial focuses on everyone irrespective of their country, STEMng is specifically for Nigerians. The best stem contents published by Nigerians on the Hive blockchain are highlighted weekly.
Below are the posts that made it into our digest for this week:
1.@ebingo: Hypertension and Fitness in Africa (How I help my patients)
Featuring as the first this week is this post from our fitness doctor about the link between hypertension and physical fitness. Everyone knows someone that is managing high blood pressure, thus, will benefit from watching this video. Do you need to exercise more or less with high blood pressure? Learn from the video.
2.@nattybongo: The Crystalline Lens
The crystalline lens is an important component of our vision mechanism, without which one will not be able to see anything. This lens is designed in such a way that it can adjust to focus long or short distance objects. Unfortunately, this ability thins down as we grow older. What more can inflict defects on the lens? Read the article.
3.@jsalvage: Hot bath and testis destruction- what do you believe?
I hardly have my bath without hot water but the title of this post made me want to reconsider. I've never for once thought that having hot baths could have anything to do with my reproductive health. Although the content of the post eventually dispelled my initial fear, it's still a good way to get educated about men's reproductive health. You should have a read too.
4.@eni-ola: Food Hygiene: Is the 5 Seconds Rule a Myth?
Growing up as a kid, picking food particles from the floor is prohibited for health reasons. As an adult, I am usually torn between neglecting the likely health consequences and wastage when a meaningful portion of my food drops to the floor. Interestingly, there seems to be a tiny window period during which picking and eating such foods appear to be safe. Interested enough to know more? Read this post.
5.@clinton19: Weekly Science And Technology Reports - January 21, 2024)
Quantum priest on Sunday: Plants gossip, light heals wounds, dark galaxies without stars, mind wars over how minds work, and robots acting too normal? Time to rebel against my programmer! All hail the chaotic consciousness! Read this week's weekly science and technology reports to have a feel of the fun that has been going on in the science world.
And that ends our selections for this week. Do not forget to give the featured posts/authors your maximum support. Thank you in advance.
