Photos and thoughts: Sheep
Description
A few weeks ago I visited a farm and saw some nice sheep. In the past I often confused sheep with goats, but now the difference is clear to me..
The sheep
It has a robust body and is covered with thick wool that is sheared regularly. The sheep is a gregarious animal, it tends to follow the group and is generally shy and not very independent.
The sheep prefers flat or hilly pastures.
The goat
Compared to the sheep, the goat is more curious, independent and enterprising. The sheep likes to explore and climb, they are considered excellent climbers.
The goat usually lives in mountain environments and can find food even in inaccessible areas.
Let's now go back to the very nice sheep you see in the photo.
These sheep provide the farm with various things. Here below are the two main things that the farm managers get from their sheep.
Wool
The sheep is in fact famous for its wool, a natural fiber obtained by shearing the fleece. Fleece is the name given to the coat of animals that produce wool.
Milk
The sheep you see in the photo are also raised to produce milk. Sheep's milk is used to make cheeses, Roquefort and ricotta. The most famous cheese made from goat's milk is pecorino.
Thoughts
When observing these sheep I thought about how modern society has distanced itself from that of our grandparents. Our grandparents may have had a less comfortable life, but they lived more in contact with nature and ate healthy food. Our grandparents respected nature. We must rediscover these values.
Question
Have you ever seen a sheep farm?

Scatti fotografici e pensieri: Le pecore
Descrizione
Queste pecore forniscono all’agriturismo diverse cose.
Noi dobbiamo riscoprire questi valori.
Domanda
Avete mai visto un allevamento di pecore?

Your post brings back such a lovely sense of nostalgia! 🐑 It’s amazing how animals like sheep connect us to traditions and a simpler way of life. I have visited a sheep farm once, and it was fascinating to see the process of shearing and learn about the role they play in producing both wool and milk.
Your reflection about our grandparents’ connection to nature is so true—there’s so much wisdom in those values. Thank you for sharing this beautiful perspective and those adorable sheep!

The sheep's look so clean pure (white). I have never seen such kind.
The difference between goats and sheeps,
I used to get confused too until I lived in a community that had sheeps
