The subject of the photograph
In these photos I show buildings that were once used as salt warehouses. Here we are in the town of Cervia (Ravenna - Italy)

Description
These ancient warehouses are located in the historic center of Cervia along the canal port. Up to 230,000 quintals of salt were stored in these ancient salt warehouses. The warehouses were built in two adjacent areas, but separated from each other by a water channel. In these photos we see the part of the buildings built on the side of the tower and these rooms date back to 1691. I'll spare you the math, the buildings shown in the photos are 334 years old.
The structure is entirely made of bricks and the buildings were designed with the aim of preserving and protecting the stored salt. After storage, the sale and sorting proceeded along the extensive commercial network of the time.
In the past there were conveyor belts that connected the salt warehouses with the canal. The salt was transported directly from the warehouse to the boat that then left the port to make deliveries.

Thoughts
These spaces are very beautiful to see, but I admit that it is very nice to be able to visit them from the inside too. Some areas have been converted into cultural spaces. In some photos you can see the interiors and at the time we visited there was an exhibition dedicated to art and music. When you are close to the warehouses you can immediately imagine the fervor that that large work area created. Today only the buildings remain, but I am sure that once a lot of life flowed here.

Descrizione
Questi antichi magazzini di trovano nel centro storico di Cervia lungo il porto canale. In questi antichi magazzini del sale venivano custoditi fino a 230.000 quintali di sale. I magazzini sono stati costruiti in due aree adiacenti, ma separate tra loro da un canale d’acqua. In queste foto vediamo la parte di edifici costruiti sul lato della torre e questi ambienti risalgono al 1691. Vi risparmio i conti, gli edifici mostrati in foto hanno 334 anni.
La struttura è interamente fatta di mattoni e gli edifici sono state progettati con il fine di conservare e proteggere il sale immagazzinato. Dopo l'immagazzinamento si procedeva con la vendita e lo smistamento lungo la ampia rete commerciale di allora.
Nei tempi passati c’erano dei nastri trasportatori che collegavano i magazzini del sale con il canale. Il sale veniva trasportato direttamente dal magazzino all’imbarcazione che partiva poi dal porto per fare le consegne.

Pensieri
Questi ambienti sono molto belli da vedere, ma ammetto che è molto bello poter riuscire a visitarli anche dall’interno. Alcune aree sono state convertite in spazi culturali. In alcune foto potete appunto vedere gli interni e nel momento in cui li abbiamo visitati c’era una mostra dedicata all’arte e alla musica. Quando si è vicini ai magazzini si può subito immaginare il fervore che creava quell’ampia zona di lavoro. Oggi rimangono solo gli edifici, ma sono sicuro che una volta qui di vita ne scorreva tanta.
