Big Tech Ai War

(Edited)

The battle has already begun! Meta and OpenAI have taken their positions, while Google is following its own path.

META

Let’s start with Meta , which seems to be taking the lead in this new trend. According to Meta’s Chief Product Officer, Chris Cox, the company is preparing Llama 4, the next generation of its open AI model, specifically designed for AI agents.

What does this mean in practice?

Meta’s new AI agents won’t just answer questions like a chatbot. They will be able to carry out entire processes on their own—browsing the web, reading and analyzing data, and completing complex tasks.

What is Meta aiming for?

The 200 million entrepreneurs already using its tools!

So, anyone will be able to use them? Yes. Imagine every small business having its own personal AI assistant—one that replies to customers 24/7, creates social media posts, manages orders, and automates every tedious task you can think of.

In short, Meta wants to make AI a core part of every business, big or small.

And of course, this isn’t just about technology—it’s a massive new business model that could bring in billions of dollars in revenue.

OPENAI

Now let’s move on to OpenAI, which seems to be taking AI agents to a whole new level.

Recent reports suggest OpenAI is planning to launch a new series of AI agents with staggering price tags. Unlike Meta, which is targeting small businesses, OpenAI is going after the high-end market.

Listen to this:

  • $2,000/month for agents designed for "high-income knowledge workers"
  • $10,000/month for agents tailored for developers
  • $20,000/month for so-called PhD-level agents, capable of conducting scientific research or even replacing entire teams of programmers

Why are they so expensive, though? you might ask. Because these agents aren’t just software. They’re digital workers who can run projects, collect and analyze data, write code, and even handle legal or medical cases.

And OpenAI isn’t treating this as just another side project—it wants 20-25% of its total revenue to come from these AI agents.

In short, OpenAI is telling us: The future of work is here—and it comes with a hefty price tag.

GOOGLE

And now, let’s talk about Google, which… hasn’t fully entered the AI agent race (yet).

But that doesn’t mean it’s sitting idle—Google has been making moves in AI.

Yesterday, the company announced an upgrade to AI Overviews with Gemini 2.0, expanding its availability to even more users.

What is AI Overviews? It’s the AI-generated answers you see at the top of your search results—before you even click on a link.

Now, Google is taking it a step further by launching a new experimental AI Mode, which will be able to conduct analyses, make comparisons, and use reasoning within search results.

Essentially, Google is telling us:

"We don’t want to build the AI agents that will do your work for you. We want to become the ultimate AI advisor—the one that answers all your questions and guides you to the right solutions."

It’s a very different strategy—but let’s not forget, Google holds the keys to online information.

I may be the most ornery person on earth. That AI overview that you can't shut off--it drives me nuts. I don't want Google to tell me what to think. I'll do my own searches, thank you, with my own targeted questions.

Right now I use Duck Duck Go as a search engine, and that drives me crazy because it's inadequate. It has anemic search results. No question Google is more responsive and comprehensive. So I switch when I need info to Google.

It doubles my work, but it's a less annoying process.

Ai is making our lives easier and at the same time it makes us more reliable to it. I use presearch some times as a search engine.

Thanks for the presearch info, @steemychicken1. Just tried it out...looks good. Nice to have an alternative (I love alternatives).
