Bangkok Night - Can you Name those Bars?
Bangkok Night Life was always such fun...and the first thing that needs to be said is that ‘girlie’ bars are not a must, indeed, I have never really been so much into the Go-Go seen. I much prefer nights with mates, chats, a game of pool and a skin full of course :-)
A lot of the pictures in this article are from nights out in Bus Stop Bar, which is about 100 meters or so up Sukhumvit Soi 4, away from the Nana Plaza Complex. I started going here way back in 1999, but it became pretty much my local, my mainstay from 2003 to around 2016. Then again when I was back in Bangkok in 2019 and 2020.
The noise, the smells of the food cooking inside and often outside on the street, the lights, the colors, the heat and humidity. When all cobbled together, there is something very special about the feeling you get when out and about in the Bangkok Night Life streets. Check out this street act, man pyramid being built...
The anticipation is always a good thing in Bangkok also. The wait for the BTS to hurry up and take you to Nana Station or the wait in the hugely congested Bangkok Traffic if taking a taxi ride.
Eventually, being that we lived right out near Bangna (Sukhumvit 101/1) we found a superb local bar in that street called Zinc 101. Ran by a lovely Canadian chap Dan and his lovely wife Nui, a really cool hang out with an unusual mix of Thai and Farang customers. They converted an old motorbike repair shop/shack into a really cool industrial feeling bar.
In some other pictures above you can see MBK, where we have gone for a nice nish up, then headed back to the sky train to go to Nana. And also when we left bars in Silom to head back to Nana. Bus Stop normally the destination.
I wonder how many of you can identify and name other bars in the pictures?
