HIVE BOOTCAMP - AUGUST EDITION DAY 1

avatar
(Edited)

In the past, the method I usually use to onboard members is by meeting them one to one or generally through WhatsApp and telling them everything they need to know about Hive from direct messages.

IMG_20220809_114426.jpg

After explaining most of what they needed to know through phone calls and and long chatting, I bring them to Hive.

Unfortunately, some of the members I've onboarded failed to adhere to direct instructions on DO NOT PLAGIARISE!!!. Their disobedience of not following instructions, unfortunately, cost me my role as an OCD onboarder which, to be honest, was painful at first but it gave me a better idea on a new approach to take when onboarding people to Hive. I am more strict with the process this time around.

Now, I have developed a monthly onboarding system in which I give a certain amount of people lectures about Hive on the second week of every month. The program holds for a period of 6 Days with each program day having a particular Hive topic.

For each topic, my team (not doing this alone) have developed learning materials and a test quiz that every member of the bootcamp must take after every lesson. The test quiz would let us know how much the onboardees understand what has been explained to them.

Failure to attempt or pass all test quiz would cause me not to create a Hive account for them. If they miss up to two test quiz, and two classes, they would be removed from the program before even completing the lectures.

Removed onboardees would have to wait still the second week of the following month to re-attend the classes and pass the test quiz before an account would be created for them.

The reason for this level of strictness is because I am looking for people who are willing to sacrifice their time to learn. This would prove they are ready for the real world on Hive when they finally come onboard.

Imagine onboarding someone who doesn't give time to attend the meetings and passing the tests. It shows no proof that they can put in any effort in growing their Hive account.

The point of doing all these is so that those who make it and get to create an account through me would have fully understood everything they need to know to get started on Hive and how to navigate their way without getting frustrated.

Due to the fact that I now have trust issues with members I onboard, these members would have to share their articles to a central account where my team and I will crosscheck their articles for plagiarism and the likes before they are given the go ahead to publish.

With every knowledge shared with these onboardees, I believe they would be able to survive and flourish as newbies.

Below is the planned curriculum for the 6 Days Hive Bootcamp:

DAY 1: WHAT IS HIVE?

How does it function and relates to other Social Media
General overview of the platform. The benefits, ways to earn.

DAY 2: KNOWING YOUR NICHE AND FINDING THE RIGHT COMMUNITIES

Learning how to thrive, benefit of networking the right way, etc. Proper use of tags and their importance.

DAY 3: PLAGIARISM AND SOURCING

How Hive frowns on Plagiarism and the need to not plagiarize no matter what. How to source pictures and other works that are not theirs.

DAY 4: SETTING UP YOUR HIVE ACCOUNT

Logging in, account recovery, keeping account safe, proper use of keys.

DAY 5: LEARNING HOW TO FORMAT YOUR POST

How to use markdowns to make your posts presentable.

DAY 6: UPLOADING VIDEOS ON HIVE VIA 3SPEAK

Learning how to create a 3speak account, connecting your Hive account to 3speak and Uploading videos via 3speak.

DAY 1: WHAT IS HIVE

It's the second week of August and yesterday was the first meeting with the newbies onboard. The video below is a Google meetup setup for the August cohort.

The meeting was led by @monioluwa, who was onboarded to Hive almost a year ago by me.

Wow you made a lot of effort for this, starstrings! I hope you can onboard more trusted Hivean on Hive.

Good luck in onboarding!

Ah by the way, in case you want, you can use my e-book about Hive for a simple guide to your onboarded users.

This is a good initiative as it will help to give the newbie focus on what to expect and how to go about it. Anyone that scales through the process will be seen as really serious to face the real world of the hive.

I am in full support of this initiative and hope it goes well.

Wish you and your team success.

GRACIAS! Sure those who make it would definitely be read for what Hive has to offer.

Exactly! Those that will scale through will have proven their readiness and willingness to face Hive without shaking.

It has now become essential and mandatory for us to ensure that the newbies that we will be bringing in have sufficient knowledge and are equipped with sufficient understanding to enable them to glide smoothly on Hive.

Interesting and really strict but one thing is certain, it will work! I love the people that are on your team, it will make the work really easy for you.

I'm sure that any serious newbie will excel really well after going through your boot camp, now I'm almost wishing I had sure pre Hive class but I'm so glad I also got another opportunity through the newbies initiative.

All the best guys, you guys are up for real work but I know it will be worth it in the end.

Yeah, I carefully chose people who I know I can work with easily and was taught about Hive by me. So I know how much I trust them to give. Infact @monioluwa and @olujay have come to understand everything there is to Hive more than the way I do and I brought them in. Not forgetting @ksam too.

That's what they call the student becoming better than the teacher.

Yes you did really well with the selection, I'm sure they are even going to do more because they are so eager to learn.

I'm sure seeing them like this will always put a good smile on your face because it's not easy to have people that will be this serious and that's why I'm more happy you are putting things in place to have serious newbies.

It's always the joy of a true master to be happy when his students are growing even more than him and I can imagine the joy you have. Now things will be a lot easier for you because you have them 😊😊.

This is a very interesting take on Hive and is highly welcome! If you don't mind, I will really love to be a part of this. I have a few persons on me interested, but its been hard putting everything together.

Your efforts are quite commendable. And trust me, I can bring a few things to the table, at least, we can harness the power of Google Classroom (if not being used already) to enforce learning.

My boss, abeg, dey send me message! 😉

I like this onboarding idea. It’ll equip the onboardess the essential knowledge and tools to enjoy their Hive journey. Do you give the onboardees who pass the final tests delegations when you approve them to start posting on Hive?

I delegate to people I bring in on Hive for a period of time. So definitely, they would get a delegation from me to keep them starting.

Yeah Hive is not for everyone. Not everyone can follow all the rules of Hive, they are too used to their traditional social media.

This is a great initiative guys, I sincerely appreciate you guys effort. On-boarding members have been a challenge to me as well, as some of those that say they want to join have created an account but later never showed up to become active. Others that showed up to be active started plagiarising.

Giving newbies such training before they come in is very vital for both the referral and the newbie. I wished I had such an opportunity before joining, I know I would have done better than I am doing now. Thanks so kuchen for your effort.

Yeah, due to frustration in the onboarding people to Hive made me develop this idea. If they are not ready to sacrifice through this bootcamp then they are not ready to have an account.

I do not understand why people plagiarize, taking what's not theirs without sourcing it and instead want to take credit for the job done. If they are having issues with writer's block, why not clear the head instead of chanting " consistency is the key " to ruin others closer to you?

Sometimes strict methods need to be taken for people to know their worth.

I hope you are better now? (In the last video of yours I saw, you were kinda uncomfortable, sorry for asking if it seems personal, just checking up).

Wahoo🤭🤭🤭, I love the strategy you are applying while onboarding newbies. For serious ones, this will definitely give them a solid ground in this space, and right now, I am feeling like joining this your team🤩, wow I wish I had this thorough training before starting my hive journey, however thanks to newbies' initiative program anchored by you also which came to my rescue when I was almost lost here. Those guys in your team are privileged cos information is power 💪

I picked one thing from this content @starstrings01, you mentioned about OCD onborder. Is there any benefit when one onboard newbie through OCD? Like referral benefits or so? For the ones I have onboarded so far, I only used this link ( https://hiveonboard.com/create-account) while creating their account. Is there any special link from OCD as regard that ?

"Serious ones" are particularly those we are interested in. Following whales and their trials on reducing the issues with creating new accounts due to incessant creations of accounts by abusers with the sole purpose of getting more than they deserve from the Hive reward pool, makes one want to bring serious and willing people into the Hive to help minimise this issue.

I too wish I had had this thorough training we are providing. Starting Hive as a newbie, for many of us, was basically a rough journey. Many of us had to scavenge for knowledge every now and then simply because we wanted to grow and become better. We have now tailored this program to provide newbies in the future with sufficient knowledge and understanding to find surfing on Hive as a beginner much easier.

Smiles.. this strategy would have not been born if I never failed or was removed as an onboarder. It is a good thing you know. Let's call it the treasures you find in failure.

Yeah, there are benefits being an OCD onboarder. You would be able to support people you bring in to Hive for a duration of 3 months. i.e. OCD would be supporting some of their content given that it is quality and unique.

Yes, there is a special OCD link to bring someone to Hive.

I think it's important to be this strict, by the way, I didn't realise that creating an account on hive is now different from how it used to be.

You are doing a great Job. I find it difficult to explain all about hive to some people because I noticed that they are mostly always after the reward they would get, forgetting that they have to work and work. I would be getting questions like, how many hives do I have now, why is it still 0, and so on like that, it is annoying, so that's why I said that it is important to be this strict and you are doing a great job.

The strict method was only necessary because of the level of ignorance about certain aspects of Hive, particularly "plagiarism". Despite the repeated instructions given, we still find many do not have enough in-depth knowledge about some things, hence they keep making the same mistakes.

And also, the issue of people mistaking Hive to be a "get-rich" scheme is one of the reasons why it has been made a necessity that they understand that Hive is beyond the reward pool. Hive is a place to explore potentialities, grow, and connect with intelligent minds creating brilliant content.

Hive is a place to explore potentialities, grow, and connect with intelligent minds creating brilliant content.

Exactly, I don't have that much grace to explain it to people who want quick money, so I just avoid them🙅‍♀️

But then again, you guys are awesome.💪💪

Smiles! I know how it is...The truth is money is never really attained when the main focus in on money. It should be what that yield money. Put in effort in that and in the long run, the money would come.

That is what people fail to understand.
