Last Glimpse (Part I) - Thailand Travel | Wandering Around

Hey Hivers! How's it been? I hope you are all doing fantastic. Here’s the next and last part.

The night before, we were talking about renting a bike for the day, but it was a holiday (the King’s Birthday), so we just commuted.

We woke up with our breakfast at around 8 in the morning. What a good day to start with nomnom food. After eating, we took a bath and prepared our things to bring, and yeah, we forgot to have an umbrella. Lol. We headed down to the lobby and waited for the Grab car that my partner had booked for us to go to the train station. It was only a 5-minute drive, more or less, to get there from the hotel we stayed at.

It was my first time riding a train, so I was a little bit nervous but super excited. It was my first time in a foreign land too! Yay! But my partner guided me through everything, so I'm safe. They call it the Sky Train. I took some pics, of course. On our train ride going to (dang I forgot the place), we came across a good local that taught us where to stop and where to buy tickets for the next train ride. His name is Tawan. He was friendly to us, and again, he thought I was a local too. Lol. So then we parted ways in some place, but we managed to get his instagram account.

When we arrived at our destination, the station’s interior design was classic. We went out and saw a museum outside. We hadn't gone since it was raining and just went straight to find shelter. We were approached by a local, a driver/tour guide from Toktok. He asked where we were heading, and we said to the Grand Palace. He said we couldn't come; it was closed because it was their King's Birthday. He then suggested and said something about a boat ride for an hour, which tours around the Grand Canal (if I am not mistaken). So me and my partner decided, "Why not?" We’ll try it. He called out a toktok and tipped us that we should pay a certain amount and not talk to other people about giving high prices on boat rides. We paid 800 baht ($21.05) each. He said others charge 1000 baht ($26.31) each, and that is way too expensive. Toktok was only 20baht ($0.53) for both of us going to the ferry pier.

Our view while waiting for our boat.

Our boat ride "adventure" then started. We werent alone in the boat. There were other foreign tourists too, joining us. It was an hour of clicking pics, being in awe of the temples along the sail, and being amazed by floating houses, cafe shops, and their way of living by the water.

There were Indians sitting at our backs too. The two foreigners in front were dropped at the temple across the pier. So during the tour boat ride, only the four of us remained.

We passed by the huge Great Buddha , and I was soooo astonished. I had a video of that because the boat was moving, so mostly I took video and some pics along the way.

Isn't it amazing? I guess next time I should enter this temple and look at it from near me.

Thank you so much, Hivers, for exploring with me once again and being with me up until this part of the trip. Stay tuned for part 2! All the best!
