Recycling my fabrics to make a pin holder (ESP/ENG)

Hello friends of #needleworkmonday today I bring you a very useful post and where creativity is what will make the difference.

Hola amigos de #needleworkmonday hoy les traigo un post de muchísima utilidad y donde la creatividad es la que va a marcar la diferencia.

As you surely know, because you practice sewing and knitting, it is usual that we have some very small scraps of fabric left to make bows or accessories, but too big to want to throw them away, so we end up with a bag or a box full of a bunch of small pieces of fabric in the hope of using them someday and often that day does not come.

Como ustedes seguro saben, porque practican las costura y el tejido, es usual que nos queden algunos retazos de tela muy pequeños para hacer lazos o accesorios, pero muy grandes como para querer botarlos, así que terminamos con una bolsa o una caja llena de un montón de trocitos de tela con la esperanza de utilizarlos algún día y muchas veces ese día no llega.

If you read my last post in this community, you will remember that I made a turban to dry my hair after washing it, from this project I got a very small piece of cloth fabric to make a hand towel, so I decided to try to make a stuffed animal to see how it looked like.

Si leyeron mi ultimo post en esta comunidad, recordarán que realice un turbante para secar mi cabello después de lavarlo, de este proyecto me cobro un retazo de tela de paño muy pequeño para hacer una toalla para las manos, así que decidí intentar hacer un peluche a ver como me quedaba.

The first thing I did was to take the fabric and cut the pieces I was going to need. I did all this improvising and without patterns, but to make the body I made a small rectangle, I made 8 U-shaped pieces to make the arms and legs, and to make the head I cut out a circle big enough to fit the body of my doll.

Lo primero que hice fue tomar la tela y cortar las piezas que iba a necesitar. Todo esto lo hice improvisando y sin patrones, pero para realizar el cuerpo hice un pequeño rectángulo, hice 8 piezas en forma de U para que me sirvieran para hacer los brazos y las piernas, y para hacer la cabeza recorte un circulo lo suficientemente grande como para que quedará acorde con el cuerpo de mi muñeco.

Then, I sewed the ends of each piece together leaving only the part of the piece that was attached to the doll unsewn.

Luego, cosí los extremos de cada pieza solo dejando sin coser la parte de la pieza que iba unida al muñeco.

I started to stuff the arms and feet of my doll with cotton to make it softer, sewed them to the body and then I started to stuff the body of my doll with different fabric scraps, of all colors and sizes that I had already decided I would not use but that I didn't think it was right to throw away.

Comencé a rellenar primero los brazos y pies de mi muñeco con algodón para que quedara mucho mas suave, los cosí al cuerpo y luego comencé a rellenar el cuerpo de mi muñeco con diferentes retazos de tela, de todos los colores y tamaños que ya había decidido que no utilizaría pero que tampoco me parecía correcto tirar a la basura.

As in the fabric scraps we often have some fibers more rigid than others, I tried to place in the center of the stuffing those fabrics that felt much harder to the touch, and with the purpose of recycling as much as I could, I even stuffed my doll with the remains of the fabric I used for the body of this one, here the plan was not to waste anything.

Como en los retazos de tela muchas veces tenemos algunas fibras más rígidas que otras, trate de colocar en el centro del relleno aquellas telas que al tacto se sentían mucho más duras, y con el propósito de reciclar lo más que pudiera, incluso rellene mi muñeco con los restos de la tela que utilicé para el cuerpo de este, aquí el plan era no desperdiciar nada.

The head was what gave me a little more trouble, so much so that I couldn't even take pictures of the process because I was so stressed and about to throw in the towel, literally hahaha. Then I discovered that the right way to avoid stress was to close the head piece before filling it, and that way it was easier.

La cabeza fue lo que me dio un poquito más de problemas, tanto así que no pude ni tomarle fotos al proceso porque me tenía bastante estresada y a punto de tirar la toalla, literalmente jajaja. Luego descubrí que la forma correcta para evitar el estrés fue ir cerrando la pieza de la cabeza antes de rellenarla, y así me salió mas fácil.

Since I didn't have safety eyes like the ones used for amigurumis, and honestly using buttons seems a bit creepy to me, I preferred to make the eyes with normal black sewing thread, because I didn't have embroidery thread either.

Como no tenía ojos de seguridad como los que se utilizan para los amigurumis, y sinceramente usar botones me parece un poco escalofriante, preferí hacerle los ojos líneales con hilo negro normal de costura, porque tampoco tenía hilo de bordar.

Finally, and as a ring to my finger on my recycling day I found a sock without its pair. Incomplete socks are not something out of the ordinary, let's face it, there is a mystery in the washing machines and dryers, because every time we wash socks one of them comes out without its pair and if they are different you can not use them together, so for these crafts they are perfect.

Por último, y como anillo al dedo en mi día de reciclaje encontré una media sin su par. Las medias incompletas no es algo fuera de lo normal, seamos sinceros, hay un misterio sin descifrar en las lavadoras y en las secadoras, pues cada vez que lavamos medias una de ellas sale sin su par y si son diferentes no las puedes usar juntas, así que para estas manualidades quedan perfectas.

I used the stocking to make the doll's hat and give it a little color since it was ALL white. To make the hat I cut the stocking in half and sewed it on the top in a sort of ruffle.

Yo utilicé la media para hacerle el gorro al muñeco y darle un poco de color ya que TODO era blanco. Para hacer el gorrito yo corte la media aproximadamente a la mitad y la cosí en la parte superior en una especie de arruchado.

I sewed all the pieces by hand to my doll, on most of the doll I used white thread, which is the color of the fabric.

Todas las piezas las cosí a mano a mi muñeco, en la mayoría del muñeco utilicé hilo blanco, que es el color de la tela.

You can also make your own recycled dolls, either to place pins as was my case or for the little ones at home, in addition to recycling and not wasting materials that can still have a utility you will be doing something that will help you to distract and de-stress most of the time hehehehe.

Tu también puedes realizar tus propios muñecos reciclados, ya sea para colocarle alfileres como fue mi caso o para los pequeños de casa, además de reciclar y no desperdiciar materiales que aun pueden tener una utilidad estarás haciendo algo que te va a ayudar a distraerte y desestresarte la mayor parte del tiempo jejeje
