Hablemos un poco acerca de los intereses que tenemos nosotros como madres para nuestros hijos y los intereses de ellos, que en la mayoría de los casos no coinciden en nada con los nuestros.

Let's talk a little about the interests that we as mothers have for our children and their interests, which in most cases do not coincide at all with ours.

Cuando nos convertimos en madres, de inmediato empezamos a planificar todo un futuro para ellos, soñamos en que se conviertan de mayores, en todo lo que uno no pudo ser o tener y en ocasiones llegamos a volver a vivir a través de ellos, un error que tendemos mucho a cometer.

When we become mothers, we immediately start planning a whole future for them, we dream of them growing up to be everything we could not be or have, and sometimes we get to live again through them, a mistake we tend to make a lot.

El caso está en que existe, en estas ideas una variable que no tomamos en cuenta a la hora de soñar, imaginar o planificarle el futuro a nuestros hijos, y es que ellos también tienen sus propios intereses, gustos y pasiones y cuando las manifiestan entonces viene lo que yo llamo el período de negociación de intereses.

The fact is that there is a variable in these ideas that we do not take into account when dreaming, imagining or planning the future for our children, and that is that they also have their own interests, tastes and passions, and when they manifest them, then comes what I call the period of negotiation of interests.

Casi todos los niños pequeños, entre cuatro a nueve años, sueñan con ser policías, bomberos, esos trabajos que implican riesgos y adrenalina, pero pasada esa edad los gustos van cambiando, las pasiones son otras, claro hay otros tipos de influencias y llega luego el factor satisfacción personal y por supuesto el económico, es en este momento cuando ellos empiezan a visualizarse en el futuro como posibles, médicos, maestros, músicos, youtuber, y una serie de profesiones y actividades que están hoy a la “moda”, entonces acá entramos nosotras, con la idea de orientar, como siempre debemos hacerlo, y mostrar el camino que creemos es mejor deberían tomar, todo basado en nuestras propias experiencias; habrá situaciones en que estas orientaciones sean oídas y respetadas, pero la probabilidad nos dice que serán ellos y ellas, los hijos e hijas, serán quienes decidan su futuro laboral, basado y en construcción de sus propias experiencias.

Almost all young children, between four to nine years old, dream of being policemen, firefighters, those jobs that involve risks and adrenaline, but after that age, tastes change, passions are other, of course there are other types of influences and then comes the personal satisfaction factor and of course the economic factor, it is at this time when they begin to visualize themselves in the future as possible, doctors, teachers, musicians, youtuber, and a series of professions and activities that are today "fashionable", then here we come in, with the idea of guiding, as we always should, and show the path that we believe is best to take, all based on our own experiences; There will be situations in which these orientations will be heard and respected, but the probability tells us that it will be them, the sons and daughters, who will decide their labor future, based on and in construction of their own experiences.

Por supuesto que desde mi papel de madre siempre quiero lo mejor para mi hijo, lo que le haga más feliz, en muchas ocasiones no coincidimos con lo que quiere ser de mayor, en cuanto a lo profesional claro; hacemos ejercicios de imaginación y hablamos de lo que pasará en unos ocho o diez años más, y los gustos que tiene para estudiar una carrera universitaria, le doy orientaciones, lo escucho y ponemos en perspectiva lo que manifiesta, a veces sus sueños son increíbles, que hermoso es soñar, particularmente eso es lo que más me encanta de ese tipo de conversaciones que tengo con mi hijo, cuando hablamos del futuro, ellos hablan con tanta pasión y aunque hay cosas que para conseguirlas parecieran muy difícil, siempre es bueno alentar que con esfuerzo y trabajo todo es posible, mostrarle un panorama y negociar sobre lo que más satisfacción le pudiese dar a él de mayor, sus planes y sus pasiones.

Of course, from my role as a mother I always want the best for my son, what makes him happiest, in many occasions we do not agree on what he wants to be when he grows up, in terms of professional matters of course; we do imagination exercises and we talk about what will happen in eight or ten years, and what he likes to study a university career, I give him orientations, I listen to him and we put in perspective what he says, sometimes his dreams are incredible, how beautiful it is to dream, particularly that is what I love the most about this kind of conversations I have with my son, when we talk about the future, they speak with so much passion and although there are things that seem very difficult to achieve, it is always good to encourage that with effort and work everything is possible, show him a panorama and negotiate about what could give him more satisfaction when he grows up, his plans and his passions.

A pesar de que no coincidamos en cuanto a gustos y prioridades lo mejor de todo es compartir ideas, planificar futuro y procurar que sea lo que sea que estudie, haga o trabaje, siempre y cuando no dañe o perjudique a otra persona, lo importante es que lo haga desde el corazón, con amor y pasión, para que así disfrute al máximo su labor.

Even though we may not agree on tastes and priorities, the best thing is to share ideas, plan for the future and make sure that whatever you study, do or work, as long as it does not harm or damage another person, the important thing is that you do it from the heart, with love and passion, so that you can enjoy your work to the fullest.
