No, I dont think so
No. It can learn to react in a way you could perceive as "sentient" because it learn from humans. But it will reply like a human would because of patterns, not because it feels it.

Most certainly us humans like to think we are special but we are essentially the most complex bio machines we know of, evolution is slow but technological advancements is not, Unfortunately we can't even sort out human right when we need to start thinking of right for non human sentience
