It helps prevent spam.
Is spam the primary reason?
I wasn't on the dev team, so I can't really speak to how they prioritized their reasoning, but it seems like a reasonable assumption.
Initially it was not part of the comment but to avoid spamming it was implemented.
#freecompliments #gf
As other mentioned, it is Hive way of solving spam using a free Tx model instead of having gas fees which is variable. I like the system as basically having stake does guarantee access to writing TX to the chain in the future without cost.
Very well said ....
Do we pay (gas fees) indirectly through the inflation of the Token?
I don't know for sure, I guess you could calculate that. The inflation on hive is slowly dropping, I believe it is under 7% now which in 2024 doesn't seem like a crazy amount anymore. I think the supply might actually not be much if we manage to get millions of user onboarded. Also doing calculation you have to consider that holding Hive Power(HP) is rewarded with each block produce and you can get around 3% on it reducing you inflation cost.
Inflation is needed anyway to stimulate growth but it will probably be better when it goes down to like 2-4% as a normal economy should be.
Other tokens with Gas fees have inflation also and you might not have ways to earn the tokens without capital which hive does offer that opportunity.
Learn quite a lot from a single comment response.
So upvoting with HP and the passive 3% should turn your HP into profit (if value remains constant)
I did a bit more research, projected inflation should have been 6,10% for 2024 but ended up being higher. Found an article from someone doing the maths: https://inleo.io/@dalz/available-hive-supply-what-is-it-inflating-faster-than-the-regular-supply-sjhvmz
I didn't know the value of this project was around 70 million dollars 🤯
409 million Hives converted with the current $HIVE value.
I thought I was in some start up. Thanks for this data, it really put things into proper perspective for me.
This doesn't even take HBDs and the second layer tokens values into account?
#askleo #inleo
No I believe HBD is part of the virtual supply of Hive. Yes is it a project just under the 100M mark, hopefully it will grow.
Second layer are independant SPS(splinterlands) for example has a 4M in market cap, used to be event bigger, you will see it is an interesting ecosystem to study in my opinion. I am sure we will see interesting new projects that need a blockchain develop on Hive, it does have some competitive advance, just missing a bigger community and MAU users.
Splinterlands? I would go check that out later today. Is that also a front end to hive and is inleo the biggest second layer token in terms of market cap?
Good morning to you friend.
But Yes you should be able to profit if being active and efficient on curation, At the moment I make around 8-9% on HP curation. My bet is that in 5 years inflation will be lower and your stake should grow faster by it self. I am working on a hive projection calculator at https://hivekpi.com/ still a lot I can improve but you can use it to estimate the compound interest on HP if you don't sell those rewards of course.
Great, I'm gonna check it out now.
At the beginning RC (resource credit) was a full component of HivePower and you couldn't separate the two. Had to delegate HP which was giving RC, now you can delegate RC to other without giving away voting power.
It's pretty good they did that.... It would encourage those with Big stakes to delegate to newbies who can't afford to purchase... So they don't lose their upvote power
yes and most big apps do delegate to new users anyway, I believe it is the case for splinterlands and inleo, of course if you are a big user of RC then you can always ask others for delegation for the first few month until you build stake. I am sure markets will develop (if not done already) around that and maybe faucet where you can request delegation.
Oh, hoping for such a faucet. I purchased about 25$ worth of hive for HP and premium when I joined in.
I don't know if certain parts of the world can afford to pay that if we want it to go global.
True but they would have also difficulty using ETH and smart contract also due to price so Hive is kind of leveling the playing field IMO. It is likely that network effect will happen by having people brining other people in and they can sponsor those new person with RC for free and build a community. It might be the job of future smaller community leaders to onboard others. You still have the option to use other crypto and swapping via tools like leodex if you have the money to do it yourself.
And people have the opportunity to earn back that money anyway and after the initial grinding / find connection then people can enjoy the benefit of their HP for a long time without additional capital.
I like the inleo strategy of using referral systems to encourage community members to do that job.
Yeah, have seen the Leo Dex interface, but haven't open a wallet yet. I think later today I would look more into in
This concept is what makes me excited about this project.
Thanks for taking the pain to explain Hive to me.
#inleo #thanks
And also for active users premium should be paying for itself as you get better exposure and people might be more likely to interact with other premium members as they have chosen to support the platform.
Yeah, people were able to convince me on that for me to give it a try in my first month here.
Actually I bought it because I couldn't do more outside of premium.
The word count
Visibility
And the fact that the orange mark on you feels dope.
I would see how it goes after the first month.
Yes good luck with the month and hopefully you will earn the cost of premium back. You can use tools like https://hivestats.io/@soulguy in order to check you earnings on Hive after the 7 days payout window and also see potential earning. I know the dashboard is also being worked on to provide data but I like hivestats better for the moment.
Thanks for all these tools you're showing me here on inleo. Its pretty helpful.
I just tested it out.
I guess mine would have some records in my tonight, since it's exactly a week since I got active here.
Maybe I could had like a request RC on my website that I would manually give to a set number of users for a month and check their progress. That is an idea I could work on I guess. I am pretty sure inleo was doing it but it looks like you for example didn't have enough at the beginning for what you wanted to do.
Yeah, it's a great idea, that's if you have a lot of RC.
I felt super limited at the beginning. Could hardly make 10 threads and interact with people who responded.
