Been working too hard, so we decided to go fishing.
Today was a recharge day, and I talked my neighbor into coming along fishing. Notice I said fishing and not catching, ROFLOL?
The navigation channel is about 14 miles east of my house in the suburbs. A boat was too much trouble and we were going to relax, so we decided to bank fish!
This is what the oxbow lake next to the navigation channel looks like:
The trees on the far bank are on a land sprint about 100 feet wide, with the navigation channel on the other side. After launching a boat, you go downstream a mile to reach the channel close to a lock and dam. That channel is my side so two tugs with barges can pass on the channel.
I fished and relaxed while the fish stole my bait. The only thing working hard was my bobber, even the fish were lazy!
My neighbor was fishing crank bait:
Our biggest problem was avoiding the trees. But he was working too hard, LOL!
One of his favorite lures:
They call this one an Oakiebug, and it's a good crank bait.
We had a visitor:
It looked like someone had hit him with bird shot, but he had healed up leaving the scar pink.
This armadillo was collecting acorns:
The trees we were under had acorns that were 1 1/4" diameter, so it wouldn't take many!
This is a Corp of Engineers park, that few know about; usually there are as many as 3 RV's camping here. This time I saw 16 RV's there. I asked one guy and he said he was playing musical parking spots, since they must move every 14 days. But they're living in the Park because they lost their house! With $5 a day for off grid, and $10 for full hookups; rent and utilities would be about $300. Sad that vacation spots are turning into survival spots before our very eyes!
Sounds like a great time to be alive. Glad y'all enjoyed your day!
It recharged me, nothing like watching a bobber float! Very good day.
