Hive values engagement!

Good afternoon buzzers! After evaluating my last couple of power-up posts, I've found consistency in posting isn't 'just' the answer. Hive values participation and engagement. The ability to 'earn' if that's your end goal, will balance more on the engagement side than the ability just to produce constant content. (Unless your content is far above the rest!)

Looking through my earned Hive, I get a lot of small drips from curations, but more from author rewards from comments, not so much posts. I know my posts tend to be focused towards 'general' terms, I don't overly participate in particular contests or events. So I don't often get under the nose of curators. We have some massive curators on Hive that currently shape the landscape, if you're lucky enough to be found by one of them your posts can go from unknown to 'Hot' instantly.

I also struggle with daily engagement, which I think I'll make my main goal for moving forward. No longer will I solely focus on how much I've earnt over a month, but look more in-depth at my weekly contribution to Hive overall. My comments, my replies, and my general Hive helpfulness.

It's too easy to set a goal for X amount of Hive, or Y amount of HE tokens, but how many of us set our goals on commenting on 5 posts a day, or onboarding a new member per month?

Even just taking 10 minutes to curate the communities you love the most could make a much bigger impact than spamming your post and leaving. I've even noticed this phenomenon in many of the Hive discord servers, users will drop a post into the post promo channels but never actually engage with the users.

Personally, I spend most of my days on Discord, on one server or another. It's too easy to get sucked into chats or just procrastinate on the many games and events being held via Discord. These activities don't always translate into Hive benefits though. Many users will chat with you in Discord yet never find your content. Unless they put the effort in to find it.

I've been utilising the delights of the Ecency mobile app to ensure I'm commenting on more posts in recent days, like most things, I'll probably sloth out of doing it sooner than later but I feel it's a much better way to explore Hive and find real engagements with people. Finding 'new' content and being early to appreciate and engage is very beneficial. New users tend to find that when they engage they get continued support, but those who let the engagement slip will soon be forgotten and struggle to break free from the shadows again.

I think this applies to any social media platform if we're going to really think about it, the clues in the name. Social media should be about the social aspect, as much as the media aspect. Hive also gives the impression of a 'beehive' worth of content, waiting to be pollinated by each other views and opinions. We need to maximise our time here and really make a buzz! So, with that in mind, today I challenge you to make 5 comments on other people's posts. If you're already doing that, or have a goal, add one extra for today! Let's all put a little extra effort in to get involved and support each other and Hive as a whole!
