Splinterlands Strategies: Nothing Happening?
Talk about subdued. Since Splinterlands laid off 45% of their staff it's gone rather quiet over there. Land was a must before Xmas and to give them credit, they delivered us the smallest present ever.
Now we can claim our stake, and have a colourless piece of artwork for our hard-earned HIVE, with the promise of 'Surveying' in the early New Year. I have no reason to dissolve my trust in Splinterlands, they have always delivered (always late), but still, have my loyalty.
One great aspect of the staking is that I now own my syndicate claims purchased over 2 years ago. I remember thinking, 'these are damn expensive' at the time having forked out around 100,000 DEC for 11 plots.
The land claims were also strange as I was thinking, 'The Broken Lands sound good’, and held off from claiming plots in the Pristine North-West.
It seemed to take days for the first territory to be sold out, and then within a day the entire Broken Lands was gone, much of it to TeamPossible who took a liking to this territory.
I didn't have a lot of choice with my syndicate plots as they were purchased via the LastDayPool of TeamPossible but am happy enough with my 11 plots in leafy Briarwood. Hopefully, there are many foresty plots within.
My other plots were claimed in Celestine, also Broken Lands, which means I have TeamPossible as my neighbours. I couldn’t be in better company, and thanks @davemccoy and @warrentrx (PaulTRX) for handling the syndicate, the SPS and the VOUCHER reclaims over the last two years. It’s been arduous work I know.
I happened to spy on @davemccoy's account and some cunt has downvoted his only comment in recent times. What is wrong with these fucking people? I countered it, five times over.
The Soulbound Reward Cards
Do I think this is good? No, I don’t.., what to do about the current situation of farmers farming the reward cards is a problem, but more Gladiator cards? I still don’t know the names of all the Gladiator cards, that is how interesting they are to me.
I do play on a single account so am awarded Merits for both playing Brawls and opening chests, but opening a Gladius pack lacks the spark and excitement of a regular pack and I think this Soulbound idea will once again reduce the Splinterlands player base.

This season has seen another reduction in my rental income. It's noticeably stronger closer to the end of the season but there's no doubt it's in decline. There are fewer Splinterlands players than a couple of months beforehand.
Arkemis the Bear
This was a fine idea by the team. Only being available for 30 days and is this decent common monster truly limited in its print run. When I say limited, that is compared to everything else out there.
I have been snapping these up whenever possible and being 400 to create a MAX is not cheap. They have been priced around 16c until today when I noticed they had increased to 23c.
The @steem-affiliate account appears to have upped its prices by 50% in one day. Market manipulation? Could be, but they can take a hike; I will buy some GFs that appear stable at $3.50 or so.
Arkemis the Bear shares an almost unique ability of 'Halfing' only hosted by one other card, 'Halfling Alchemist' which is almost $20 per BCX. I remember selling all mine long ago for peanuts.
'Regrets… well I have a few' - Sid Vicious or Frank Sinatra (depending on which version you prefer)
What took my interest in Arkemis was the Protect ability. I love global buffs and there is only one other monster in the game that is Neutral and boasts ‘Protect’, which is Tower Griffin.
I like my Death team to have a wall around them. Did you know there are zero Death cards with Protect?
The thought of Arkemis the Bear in the second slot, having 'Reach, with 'Possibilus the Wise’ as the summoner and ‘The Kraken’ as the tank sounds good.
An Enraged, Trampling, Retaliating huge monster of the deep sounds like fun.
I would encourage you to pick up some ‘Arkemis the Bear’ before they go out of print (OOP). The value will surely increase in twenty days.

Yes good and bad with everyone. It is proof of loyalty to stand with anyone else in bad time. Every crypto project having downfall due to bear market it doesn't mean that that projects are bad or supply and demand management issues. This is because of bear market cycle

I noticed the rental income dropping. Bummer. I do think there are far too many things going on and the focus should narrow. It probably already has but it is still feels like there are loads of things still continuing

Also noticed my rental taking for the last while. And because there is no incentive to rent at the moment (rewards are so-so and also not like getting SPS from having more cards) this is the reason while eventually some people will lose interest. Same here, having faith in the future, as they always turned into the right way, so earning and collecting and I am still enthusiastic about the riftwatchers cards as they are so grande...So getting a bear with that here and there, and that feels oke.
No big investments here atm..are you also claiming your daily GLX?

Yes, I like this set a lot and bought a lot. The dismal sales show otherwise. Nobody is interested. If you buy with your own SPS, then it feels like a bad deal. With fiat from the outside, it's better, but the market is so bearish, it's a deterrent.
Exactly...I was kind of puzzled that people are not that interest..I get it pricewise..they are not cheap at all and indeed it feels painfull in dec as well as in sps, but that is why we have rentals right? To make money to get more cards? Or is that just me ;)
Too many are treating it as a leech station instead of a game. My DEC rent goes back into more cards. There's always something I want, and I rarely have enough DEC to get everything. I hope it will rise again one day, another August 2021 would be great.

Totally agree with that pairing, I bought the bear to pair up second spot with posiblus the wise, usually chain golem in first spot.
I don't play in Wild so haven't tried it, it just springs to mind. The Kraken I note has increased in value somewhat!
Haven't started playing Sprinterland Yet...but well, it's a Goal to start in 2023... Just confused a bit whether it will be Good or right moment to step in also haven't learnt any strategy so far. Well, your views on my thoughts about it?

It may get worse before getting better. I have seen it before and was playing Splinterlands through the last bear market.
I didn't know the Arkemis was the only death card with protect ability. A maxed out Arkemis is a beast and I can't believe one can scoop up as many as possible for not so expensive price to max them out. I like protect ability a lot just like you. I wasn't surprised when you said the price has been going up.
As for splinterlands, I think they're making efforts to deliver, the market seem to be nulling all these efforts.

I am keeping an eye on ARKEMIS THE BEAR as I want it at level 4, last time it was $0.16, to be selling for $0.23 now shows its in demand. A must have card for the Halving ability!

L4 is a good low end version of the card, with L7 being the next tier up. It's an expensive MAX for sure.

could it be that the finishing of land is kinda drawn out for some better times in the market? i can see how it could be used to create some hype but it is hard to hype anything in these crypto market conditions.
It's been in the making for so long now. When it arrived, it was the bears.., and now over 2 years later, the bulls have come and gone, and it's the bears again heh...
I got about 45 arkemis. None gold foil. I combined them into a level 4 and a level 3 and sent them to my rental account.

Merry Christmas and yes soulbound reward cards are pretty uncool and do fix IMO nothing.
They could simply lower the insane print of them and reduce the drop rate massive to the upper leagues. Should fix value and price of them.
Or simply reduce legendary/epic/rare massive to upper leagues and let common be a thing for everyone. It needs 400 for max, so I don't think they need to be really "valuable".
In a card game, no matter what the token prizes are, should be the cards the most valuable thing.
So print runs need to be placed carefully If I see current reward card prints, it's pretty insane compared to other cards.
Soulbound makes card IMO more Hearthstone-like.
The new player attraction could be also a thing like " stake the pros". So people can sign up for staking cards and people can delegate( autodelegate) card to them and earn xyz % of earnings of them. Maybe 50%, maybe more, idk.
So real players could maybe have a reason to spend their earnings ( + invest) in own decks + combine cards ( because they can test them).
I know renting is cool, but for someone new, its pretty pain to understand. It must be more " rent full deck, current price: xyz" and one click.
If we remember back to alpha/ beta, it was for a lot of people pretty cool they could spend fiat. Easy peasy for non crypto people.
The same easy use is IMO needed for the rental market on splinterlands ingame page.

I have not played Heathstone, so can't comment. I think they got tired of the reward cards being OOP and went a little far with the last lot. It's been well over a year now since Harklaw and that set made an appearance.
Before then, every 3-4 months we got new cards. What was wrong with that, I liked that idea?
As I remember, you still needed to buy credits. Isn't it the same now? I think you can use PayPal.

100% before it was pretty cool and a reward to play regularly. Soulbound is pretty shit. Same with an insane high print run.
The point is more, you could easy spend money on cards. Now it must be easy to spend money on renting too for new players for a cheap start with good cards :D
IMO it is pain in the ass to rent cards manual one by one for 2 days each, and if cancel, you dont see it fast. So it must be like bet xyz for a full deck you want.

Values will change once 'Surveying' starts. So far.. the prices are somewhat stable.
I think it's gna be huge. Seeing that its a successful game that will be implementing land plots.

I have a strong feeling that Q1 of 2023 is going to show us if Splinterlands is going to be a success or start to become an afterthought. My hopes are that everyone community, devs, investors and owners pull together and start to figure things out and support the game while keeping negative impacts at bay.
I believe it can be done but it needs to be done now and not later which includes core features like land, maybe holding off on the next pack release and starting to collect a 1% fee on transactions on top of the 5% or taking 1% of the 5% fee and putting it back into the value of SPS. Far too much gets sucked out of the game and that mainly came down to the company over the last year.
I'm curious on if other aspects will help increase values such as the boss game launching early next year from a 3rd party, tower defense etc.
I am concerned that SPL are not making enough. If they go down, we lose all. Extra fees are welcome if it keeps them going... SPS will recover once the bears move out. It will go down further until then.

I have heard talks about the soul-bound reward cards and I also think it's a bad idea because it will reduce the player base. I think the reward decrease from the level of cards relative to your league also did it but I think the soul-bound cards will make it way worst because people can't even build their deck properly. Sure you can burn the cards for DEC but I don't think it works out that well.

Maybe late is good as there wont be any pumps for the next year. It will probably come at a time when land is actually ready to go. So you have external hype with ingame hype moving prices. Nows time to accumulate.
