Wednesday Walk - Warm Rainy Day

It has finally warmed up here in Chicago for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

I noticed an intricate turnstyle door made of solid brass.

They sure don't build things like they used to. Hopefully this thing lasts another 100 years or so.

Meanwhile around town all gloom of the rain is making things look ominous.

At least these buildings get lots of free window washing around this time of the year.

Now at 6am in the morning things are looking nice and bright compared to just a month ago. The sun wouldn't even be out until 8am.

Soon the Chicago River will be dyed green for St. Patrick's Day. It already looks green on normal days, more of a polluted looking green than the neon green they use to dye it.

More ominous buildings reminding me of deadlines at work lol.

This poor office space has been vacant for as long as I can remember. Its a great honor when businesses are coming to Chicago rather than leaving it lol.

Now its off to work and I might use a dimensional marble letter like this in one of my projects.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

It is interesting that the river will be dyed green for St. Patrick's Day!

I wish I could go and see the process but there are way too many drunk people falling around everywhere on the street.

Love the details around the old double turnstile doors 👍 Mixing older architecture with modern is sometimes hard to pull off but I've always thought Chicago does it pretty well

This was an old building that got sandwiched between a bunch of modern ones.

I always find big cities a bit ominous but on a damp cloudy day even more so

WOW that door is amazing

Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk and have a great day

I know of an old school foundry that still does brass work nearby. They mostly do sculptures of people instead of doors. Pretty dirty work with lots of smoke to inhale.
