Wednesday Walk - Goose Drama and Other Sightings

There's a bit of drama at the lake for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

This goose just got its ass handed to him. Now he is flying away in defeat. His crime was trying to encroach on another goose's nest territory.

This is the glorious victor, there is still a bit of downy feather left in his beak from biting the other one's ass in a wild goose chase. Now it is honking loudly about how awesome of a fighter he is.

Now he is bragging to his mate about what an epic guardsman he is.

Keep away from my nest territory or I'll sic my husband on you! All this nest area belongs to me!

The ducks aren't impressed, this one is tired of the goose drama nearby and mooned them.

The red winged blackbird is taking notes on goose fighting style. That tail feather biting move is quite effective. I think I'll try and use it to stake out my own territory...

Spring has quite the effect on the birds around here. Must be the pollen going to their heads.

The hawks have way less drama and have no problem claiming the human castle parapets for their nests. I'm sure they are just waiting for the goslings to hatch so they can have an endless buffet of goose meat to feed to their chicks.

Lots of drama happens in the afternoon by the lake. I usually just try to get nice sunset photos but the geese distracted me this time.

Meanwhile in a field nearby a dog is getting trained to catch a frisbee. The owner wasn't having much success yet. Perhaps I'll see him at the dog show that's held there in summer and the dog will have learned a few tricks by then.

Looks like the sun is finally going down and my camera doesn't take good night photos. Time to escape the lake drama and head back home.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

You can feel the coldness of the atmosphere that afternoon, and the energy of the ganzos. Good catches!

Those geese have lots of energy in the evening. There's always some kind of drama at that time.

They are in full display now, there are giant aerial fights over territory next to the lake.

Sometimes the loudest ones can convince everyone they are strong until the actual fight happens.

The geese always default on tail feather biting during their fights.

Great shots! Your camera might be deficient for night (what is that glare?) but for birds, it's wonderful. I'm very jealous of your camera chops.

Yeah I shot straight at the sun and got a lens flare. Plus its a zoom so not enough light gets into the lens when it gets dark.

Thanks for looking. Nothing better than taking an early spring stroll in the afternoon and seeing all sorts of goose drama.

The duck mooned them 🤣🤣🤣🤣 great shots and great story. I was going to comment that you are quite a ways ahead of us with the flowering trees. But I think that is a magnolia and those are actually in bloom here.

Oomph the magnolia trees are out in force, they give me a bit of allergies. We also have a ton of white pear blooms too, very pungent.

The diving ducks are hilarious. They are probably looking for snails to eat.
