Wednesday Walk - A Day at the Beach
Here is a day at the beach for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
Finally we got some hot summer days here and whenever it hit 90F we are able to go to our favorite beach.
This is Illinois Beach State Park somewhat far up north. We have to trek through a trail to bring all our stuff to the beach.
It was a bit cumbersome driving the stroller in the sand while carrying a cooler and an umbrella. But at least we could stop and rest to look at these strange purple flowers.
The beach sand is even allowing wild roses to grow. They are already showing rose hips.
This is the remains of an old coast guard outpost.
On the trail there are quite a few random ponds and wetlands. This one was loaded full of this grass that is quite sharp if you try and walk through it.
Finally we can see the water. Now that we are sweating like crazy it will be nice to jump in the lake.
But first we have to setup the stuff.
My daughter really loves playing in the sand and collecting rocks.
I showed her a few ways to make rock art. Now she is sticking various rocks into the sand as monoliths.
Now to test out the shovel and bucket in some wet sand. She hasn't quite mastered the art of sand castle building yet.
Finally we all took a few swims and ate lunch and then had to trek back all the way to the car with all the stuff. I'm hoping there will still be some hot day's left this year to go back again.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
🤗
Thanks :-)
Thanks scrooge :-)
What a lovely day out to the beach.
The trek with all the stuff is worth it. Lets hope you get some more warm days 😊
Have a wonderful day 👋🏻
I need an industrial wagon with big sand dune tires on it for our next visit lol.
Hahaha yes, for sure.

Such a nice beach and the kid really looks like having fun
She used to afraid of water, now she loves it.
Thanks again :-)
What a beautiful walk, a place surrounded by nature, the beach is really beautiful, I see that your girl enjoys it a lot @sketch.and.jam
It was fun, she finally got to test out the bucket and shovel in the sand.
She has advanced to the Neolithic Age 😂
I really love beaches that involve a trek. Really cuts down on the crowds and also preserves more of the natural setting that you came to enjoy. But with a young daughter, its hard to pack light, which is our go to style of beach going.
Yeah we love that beach because hardly anyone is there. Plus there's more wildlife along the path there, this time I didn't bring the zoom lens. There were some weird looking frogs and herons I couldn't get with the phone. Might need a packing goat or some kind of dune buggy to get all the stuff there faster.

She is a collector already 😇
I also collect rocks and pebbles, though they say I am a bit older 😁
You would love this beach. Lots of fossils and agates if you look closely for them. My wife is also a rock collector, then I have to lug them back to the car lol.
noooooooooooo hahaha
How will the collection grow then? 😂
The collection grows continually.
what a beautiful beach and awesome shots
thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk
Have a great day
I'll have to try and get there during the winter to see the ice drifts and do the polar bear challenge.
that would be cool, I did the Polar bear challenge a few times, mostly back in NZ where its not as cold as here, but have done it twice here, but gettign to old for that shock to my system nowadays LOL
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Have a great day :)
I would definitely do some ice bath training leading up to the polar bear challenge. Even then I might still freeze to death lol.
