Mushroom Monday - Still Finding Mushrooms

I'm still finding mushrooms for this #mushroommonday

Look at this giant beauty. It has a common name of elm oyster.

Though its common name has oyster in it, it is not related to pleutaris species. This guy has a Latin name of Hypsizygus ulmarius.

They have a good taste and a good texture. The main problem is they usually only grow one by one so finding enough for a full meal is difficult.

Here is Ischnoderma resinosum aka resin polypore.

I read these are edible if you can find them when they are first starting. Now they are too old but still potentially useful for making a dye for leather. Someday I have to research how to do mushroom dye.

Here is a purple crust fungi called Phlebiopsis crassa. Perhaps a good dye can be made from this too.

Now for some really old mushrooms.

Perhaps it is an ancient honey mushroom but I'm just guessing based on the stem and gill pattern.

Here are some pear shaped puff balls.

These were a bit sparse this year. They are a great edible if you soak them in salt water then peel off the rough skin.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

Nice finds. There is a massive resin polypore growing on a log a few yards off one of my walk routes. Its growing out of a log and probably as big as a trash can lid or at least half of it haha But alas I am too lazy to scramble down the slope for a pic 🤦

They're technically edible but I suspect they don't taste like much lol. But they do have anticancer properties.

The mushrooms you posted look a lot like the ones I found at home. For us the season was very bad, it only rained. The edible mushroom was not there. Bravo for your photos and your report.

Yeah sometimes too much rain prevents them from growing. Keep an eye out for jelly fungi like wood ear they do good with rainy weather.

I'll try to find some. Speaking of gelatinous, I have a fungus that comes back every year on my soil. It is green and looks like algae. I'll try to take a photo of it and post it, let me know if you've seen it yet.

Maybe a moss of some sort? Otherwise if its shaped like a cup or a mushroom could be a type of jelly club or elf cup.
